I was going to get both of these games at some point but is there a difference between the two? Or are they basically the same? I'm assuming the storylines are different. Just really curious~ πŸ€·β€β™€οΈβœŒ

Also Doraemon Story Of Seasons will work on an American Nintendo switch right? Do I need to change the settings in the eshop to play imported games to that specific region or does that matter to play?

Thank you for taking the time to read this~ ✌

@Barbiegurl777 : With respect to imported games, you don't need to change your region or anything like that. Just make sure that the copy that you do buy supports English, as not all Japanese/Asian releases with an English-language release will necessarily support English in their respective versions. Most do, but a small minority don't. I have a Japanese eShop account specifically for checking as I have imported Japanese/Asian releases in the past.

Also bear in mind that an overseas release of a physical game may not support the DLC of your region's equivalent of the game, and therefore you may need the appropriate overseas account to access any such DLC. Again, such situations will be in the extreme minority, and with any luck, you shouldn't come across it at all, but it's just something to consider.

The good news is that you do not need a specific region account in order to download software updates.

The Japanese release of Doraemon: Story of Seasons does not support English, however, the European/Australian versions do (obviously), as well as the Asian release, so do not spring the Japanese release (if that's what you were planning on buying).

The doraemon game also came out in America.

About the differences, well quite obviously one game has the doraemon license, and the other one does not.

The doraemon game uses doraemon characters, and you play as a child, so you can’t get married in that game.

Olive Town also has several gameplay features that may feel inspired by Stardew Valley and other games. It’s not very traditional in terms of Story of Seasons gameplay.

Uhhh interesting. Isn't Story Of Seasons Pioneer Of Olive Town the sequel to Story Of Seasons 3DS? I loved the 3DS version~ πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

@Silly_G

It's all cool. Not hugely worried about the DLC. Yeah I'll probably be getting the physical release. Just depends who has it for a good price~ ✌

@Eel : Doraemon was not issued a NA retail release though (if memory serves).

@Silly_G I see it on sale quite regularly on the eshop. Wouldn't know about physical releases though.

@Barbiegurl777 They're part of the same series, and some characters from the 3DS games are available as paid dlc, but it's not directly related to any of the 3DS games, story-wise.

One thing you should always remember from Nintendo Switch machine .
Nintendo Switch is Region Free, just exactly same as NDS so you can play Switch games in any region just like you play NDS games. Insert the cartridge and play the games, without changing anything.

About Doraemon : Story of Seasons vs Pioneer of Olive Town, in Doraemon version you will always play as Nobita.
The game is in isometric 3D like Harvest Moon Back to Nature and you cannot rotate the camera angle since the place is not full 3D. Also, since Nobita and his friends are still kids, they cannot getting married whatsoever (married to who?)

And for Pioneer of Olive Town, the game is not a sequel of Story of Seasons from 3DS version despite it has some characters from previous games as DLC.
In Olive Town, you can getting married as your character is a young adult.
You can choose your gender, the appearance, the skintone, customize your character looking before start the game.
One thing you should realize from this game and also from Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town Switch version, for the first time you can getting married with same gender.
So, you can getting married with any bachelors even you play as boy and vice versa.
And thus the games rated at PEGI 12 / E10+ for having same gender marriage. (It still rated CERO A for Japan version)

Ohh I like both lol~ 🀣 Story & customization~ πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ In Story Of Seasons Pioneer Of Olive Town. After a person gets married can they also make babies & have kids in the game as well? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

I'm probably getting these 2 games either January or February. Although I found 2 other games while looking online: Hatsune Miku Nintendo switch & Sugar Style Nintendo switch. Watched game play for both on YouTube. My list of Nintendo switch games to get later is getting long LOL~ Ironically glad I waited a few years to get the Nintendo switch. Fun playing catch up~ 🀣

Uhh. In Story Of Seasons Pioneer Of Olive Town. I'm a girl. I would automatically marry a boy character in the game. I'm straight. That other stuff is just to kinky no offense lol~ 🀣 If others want to do that it's on them but it's not my thing personally. I already have Doraemon Story Of Seasons & Hatsune Miku added to the cart along with some vintage 90's barbie stuff for next month to get. Maybe I'll get Story Of Seasons Pioneer Of Olive Town & Sugar Style for February. I think I'm going to try & get 2 to 3 games a month depending on if I can find them at a good price~ πŸ™ƒπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Doraemon SoS does indeed have an English-language version on the North American eShop. No problem there. Physical releases were limited to Europe and Japan, but the European version also supports English. There is no DLC to worry about.

Neither game is the true SoS experience. As others have noted, Doraemon is a mashup of the two franchises, so it omits some aspects of play, while Pioneers of Olive Town is probably the most heavily criticized release in the history of the Bokumono games (formerly known as Harvest Moon). A new developer took over and introduced unpopular new game-play elements while ignoring or downplaying some staple elements. On the other hand, the Doraemon game received strong reviews. If you're looking for the classic Bokumono experience on Switch, the Friends of Mineral Town remake is probably the way to go. Yes, there were some "quality of life" changes and some unpopular tweaks, but it's largely the same game as the original and an excellent sampling of what the franchise is about.
