What does aim assist even do in this game? Doesn't seem to help at all.
Same here. I think the best configuration is to aim manually (auto aim off) and aim sensitivity very high, then aim with the left analog stick.
The motion controls in this game are pretty weak as well. I just disabled them.
@SKTTR The shooting sections are probably the weakest part of the game
The shooting sections of one of the best first person shooters ever made is the weakest part of the game lol? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding
@Spoony_Tech
I think it enlarges the hitboxes. I've taken enemies out from afar with some questionable aim.

@SKTTR@JaxonH@Spoony_Tech Aim assist is a tool utilised by shooters using more imprecise methods of aiming input such as a stick, it very subtly pulls your reticule towards enemies. You wont noticy it most likely, but your performance will also drop if having to manually and perfectly aim shots with a stick.
On that note @SKTTR the only motion controls in DOOM are when using a Joy-Con in each hand, and it's solely for executing glory kills. This is quite frankly just shake the right joy-con to simulate clicking the right stick, due to the position of the right stick on that joy-con being in awkward spot, when holding them free-hand, where one's fingers are also primarily on the triggers at all times.
It's a comfort thing.

@JaxonH Bullet-based and shotgun weapons have noticeable spread. Especially the heavy assault rifle, where the normally pinpoint accuracy deteriorates when fired for long periods.
Sorry for the confusion, I had L.A. Noire in my mind.
Just like Spoony I'm playing DOOM and L.A. Noire at the moment and also jump between the threads here.
L.A. Noire also has an auto aim option. I was talking about that one.
@Tibob
So, I can't remember how Goldeneye was because that was so long ago, but this is the default control scheme for FPS games now, and it works incredibly well. I think there might be a little bit of a learning curve but once you get used to it I think you'll love it. Plus it'll help you play other games which use the exact same control scheme.

Still loving the game and playing through the campaign. This game for me makes it painfully obvious what the appeal of the switch is. A TRUE AAA experience anywhere you want to play it. The switch is a godsend console and literally what the Wii U should have been.
Ya, it is what Wii U should have been. But better late than never.
I have to put DOOM on hold to play Skyrim, but I have been playing bursts of DOOM, just to the next checkpoint and then closing the game. But that's the best part about it being on Switch- I can play it in little bits and pieces anywhere I want.

@JaxonH I may have to do the opposite. I can play Doom and beat it probably in about a week whereas Skyrim I can play for 3 hours and feel like I haven't done much. I may hold off on Skyrim till at least I'm done with Doom and maybe even L.A. Noire. Skyrim deserves my undivided attention and if I give it that now I may never get back to those other 2 then alone Resident Evil R2.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Definitely completing Doom, then moving onto LA Noire, then Batman. Saving Mario Odyssey for Christmas abroad. 16 hours of flying, perfect time for the Switch.
Watched ReviewTechUSA stream this game today. It was really entertaining to watch and he's super impressed with the game, which makes me happy to see given he is more of a PC gamer.

Game is fantastic. Does get a little repetitive as you get toward the end, though. The few boss battles help split up the constant <enter arena - demons spawn - kill demons until music stops> rotation. I do wish they did a little more with the "in-between" areas: maybe more jump puzzles, environmental puzzles/hazards, etc.
I just got DOOM but I’m stuck on the End User Agreement screen.
The select button works but that’s it, no other button works so I can only select/deselect the checkbox. I can’t continue or do anything at all!
Has anyone else have this problem too?
I need help!
@Curlynob Finally I got it working.
At first it was totally unresponsive, either with the Joy-con grip or in handheld mode, I restarted the Switch and tried again and it didn't work with the Joy-con grip, but it worked in handheld mode... Weird problem... But anyway, I could get beyond the End User Agreement screen and now all buttons work fine.
I haven't had any issues navigating in handheld or the user agreement, is this after switching between docked and handheld as this can cause issues for several games? Usually you just need to reassign the controllers. I can't confirm the joycon grip issue because I only use the pro controller when docked
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
