I had to give up on the Switch version. There's a bug where enemy moves start taking like a minute to process. Tried reinstalling etc but the problem persists. It's a shame, because the port is otherwise a great way to play the game.
@Crispe Are you sure? I finished the game like a week or two ago and had no such issues.
@AndyD you could always look for online builds such as this one: https://fextralife.com/divinity-original-sin-2-builds-stormch...
this site has loads of guides. My top recommendation though? Don't be scared to use "Lone Wolf". It's a talent you can pick to reduce your party size to gain advantages. If the game is a bit overwhelming at first, you can try picking it up.
@Dusk Yeh I haven't read the issue happening to anyone else so its a shame. It got real bad at one of the fights in the cemetary in chapter 2. Even reloading an earlier save and making my way to the fight again led to the same problem.
@Dusk Thanks for piping up. Was worried after reading the comment by @Crispe. I bought the physical edition, but I guess I’ll just have to hope I don’t meet any game-crushing bugs.
Got to actually start playing first, though. I’m looking forward to it, but The Witcher III is just so long! After 100hrs, I’m still only about halfway. Might be a while before I start another long WRPG this year. When I do, it’ll be Divinity: OS2.
@Dusk@AndyD@Crispe I didn't have the long enemy movement issue either, although I'm still pretty early in the game. ~15 hours in. I initially started out with a full party, but being a newb, I found it very overwhelming trying to manage everyone. I switched to a Lone Wolf party which has been much more fun and straightforward. If I ever finish this game, Witcher 3 is next on my list, well after Xenoblade, and other unannounced games...
@NotoriousWhiz Lone Wolf Playthrough - best playthrough, really.
Though you might want to increase the difficulty at some point (you can use the gift bag mods, no need for actual replay)
Lone Wolf is a solid build for sure. But I also recommend a party of 4 for the first playthrough as some of the party member quests and conversation options are great.

Very important, really. and if you're going lone wolf, at least pick two origin characters and not custom ones
This game is awesome! Already put 25 hours into it. Not sure I do the best choices all the time, but hey... The game really rewards you for paying attention to the dialogues and lore, but it also lets you be a real a-hole if you want to. 😋 But I try to be civil as long as possible. Playing as Ifan, and having The Red Prince, Fane and Lohse as supporting characters. Just received the Purging Wand, so it's time to help the Seekers and leave this place!
Missed the LRG pre-order, but luckily a Swedish online retailer are importing and selling many of the LRG titles new and sealed, including Divinity 2. It was a bit expensive, but worth it.
I dunno if anyone is still playing this game in 2024, but I had an issue with the Steam cross-saving function, and I wanted to share how I solved it, in case anyone else has the same problem.
The issue came up constantly when I first played the game on PC in Steam, saved it there, and then returned to it on the Switch. When I started the game on Switch, I always got a message saying my local save files are newer than files in the Steam cloud, even though they shouldn't be since the last time I saved it was on my PC. Then I had to choose whether to upload my local files to the Steam cloud or to download the cloud files to my Switch. But regardless of which option I chose, the local files on the Switch often got corrupted and the game would constantly crash when I tried to load the most recent save file, the one I had uploaded to Steam on my PC.
As far as I can tell, the problem is because I have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, and the NSO also uploads all my saves to a cloud server and downloads them from there when I start a game. So you have both the Steam cloud and the NSO cloud trying to download what they think are the most recent saves of the game and apparently this creates a conflict between the two, resulting in the aforementioned crashes and corrupted files.
The solution to the problem is really simple, since you can turn off the NSO cloud for each individual game you have on the Switch. So go to Settings -> Data Management -> Save Data Cloud -> Settings -> Settings for Each Save File. There you can turn off cloud saving for Divinity 2. After doing this I've been able to keep the save files on my PC and Switch in sync without any issues on the latter. And you won't need the NSO cloud as a backup for this game, since you're already automatically saving everything to the Steam cloud.
Just downloaded the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and wow, this game looks and feels so much better than before.
It's 60fps now as far as I can tell, and the resolution is noticeably sharper than the NS1 version. It looks 1080p in handheld mode. At minimum 720p. It looks sharper though, since the NS1 version was like 480p in handheld or something crazy like that. Docked seems 1080p-1440p, hard to say really. But it doesn't look blurry anymore. That's what matters here.

The free upgrade was a nice surprise. I've been meaning to do a second playthrough of this, with a different character and different story route, and now I can do it on the Switch 2. On my first playthrough I alternated between playing on the Switch in handheld mode and on PC while using television (thanks to Larian including cross-saves in all versions), since the blurry image looked a bit too crappy on the bigger screen. But I guess that won't be an issue anymore with this version.
So much to learn and know in this game. I just discovered Gift Bag mods, which remedies my biggest issue (which to me almost felt gamebreaking) that was fallen party members not reviving after combat unless you have and use a resurrection scroll. Now I can just sleep in the bed roll to revive fallen party members, not to mention countless others I turned on with various benefits and changes.
A must-watch video for new players such as myself:
@Polvasti
Any advice for someone new like me? And I mean super simple "beginning of the game" advice. Like, I didn't know fallen party members wouldnt revive automatically after combat. That's something the game never told me. And the gift bag mods- again that's a crucial aspect I just didn't know until researching. Anything else like that- basic stuff, that I should know to make my experience easier?

@JaxonH Well, one essential tip is that the teleport spell is the most versatile spell in the whole game, so you should learn it as soon as possible, and preferably at least two members of your team should have it. Since the spellcaster can cast it on someone else besides themselves, you can use it to get your whole party into places which might be otherwise hard to reach, and there are loads of secret routes and hidden treasures in the game which you can discover with careful teleporting.
What's also great is that the teleport works on enemies too, though not on all of them. So in many battles you can, for example, have one of your characters create a burning surface, a poison cloud, etc., and then teleport an enemy there so they'll take some extra damage during their turn. Or if one your characters ends up in the middle of flames or something, try to teleport them away from there if you can, because walking through fire, poison, electricity, etc. damages them a bit with each step.
I'll try to think of some other useful things the game doesn't tell you, and write some more tips later.
@Polvasti
Thanks.
I'm on the island and keep running into enemies WAY overpowered for me, so I just Quick Load my latest Quick Save and go a different way. Had to start following a walkthrough and went back to where I found The Red Prince and then traced their steps. Just got Fane as a party member, set up his hotbar and saved for the moment. So I have 4 party members now (had already gotten the woman whose name starts with L from Fort Joy).

@JaxonH You can still shuffle party members while your on the starting island by kicking someone away from your party and inviting someone else, but once you get off the island, your party is locked and can't be changed for the rest of the game, so that's something to keep in mind. I would definitely advice keeping Fane in your group, because his story is more intimately tied to the main plot than any other party member's, so you're gonna miss out on some important interactions and pieces of lore if he's not with your group.
Personally, I would also keep Lohse (the woman whose names starts with L that you mentioned) in the party, because she's a really cool character, and her personal sidequest includes some of the toughest but also the most interesting and well-written moral choices in Original Sin 2. Lohse's quest also culminates with what I think is the best single scene in the whole game. But like I said, Fane is the most essential character to have when it comes to main story, everyone else has some connections to it but not as deep ones, so in that regard it's less important who you choose.
