Okay so the little joycon or whatever it’s called is absolutely terrible for playing smash bros with friends. Obviously, the only person with the controller that’s actually worth a damn is the best player and, obviously again, he refuses to let other people use it, so I’m always stuck with the stupid little joycon. There is nowhere near enough buttons on it because it’s so tiny an the joystick is terrible because it barely even moves. I’d rather not stop playing with my friends and I’d rather not pay for a new controller for a console that I don’t even own, soooo a fix to this would be nice for future party players. I would hate for them to go through the same pain I’m going through right now.

@pintofplain That sounds about right for using half a joycon as a controller for Smash Bros, or most games. You can play, but it's not ideal. Every Switch comes with a joy-con grip so you can use the 2 joy-cons like a full controller. People that are into Smash Bros likely use the Switch Pro Controller or a Gamecube controller(adapter needed to use a gamecube controller)

If it upsets you this much, buy a USB Gamecube/8BitDo/other switch supported controller for 20-30 euro's (which you then can also use on PC) and be done with it. The Joycon is indeed not exactly made for a game like Smash, more for Mario Party.
P.s. It does house all the buttons, and yes it's inconvenient, but Smash is still very playable with the Joycon.

They have adapters that you can use USB plugin to use SSB type controllers on the Switch you have to look for those they have them out there.

That is why I have so many controllers. If I play Smash with friends, everyone gets real controller.

But, you could buy that usb adapter or even pro controller that you can use with pc also. But, if consoles owner or you don't want buy new controllers, then you are stuck with joy con.
