I thought I might've downloaded Chrono Cross on Ps3 already, but I haven't yet. So ok, I'm interested in this, especially with Radical Dreamers of all things.

This was the highlight of the direct for me. I've always wanted to play it, and now I'll actually have the opportunity.

Holding out for the eventual physical release out of Southeast Asia.

Play-Asia is going to make some coin on this release.

I never liked Chrono Cross but I will get this to play Radical Dreamers as I only played that as a translated ROM years ago.

This was pretty unexpected and appreciated for me. Haven’t spun this up since undergrad.

This is great news, I will be able to play this for the first time. I hope it’s as great as Final Fantasy 7 and 9. I hope in the future Square will remaster Chrono Trigger and (Work with Nintendo to remaster) Super Mario RPG.

@Don There are low-key rumors that Chrono Trigger will get the Trials of Mana remake treatment. No substantiated information suggesting as much other than S-E aggressively taking down sites offering the SNES ROM.

@Magician
A Chrono Trigger remake would be pretty awesome. Hope this turns out to be real.

@Don Don't get your hopes up. Chrono Cross was a mediocre RPG at best. The magic system was overly annoying and complicated and the story was just not as good as other Square games at the time.

Yeah, this is nowhere near as good as Chrono Trigger, but then again, nothing is. I look forward to playing it again, maybe mixing up my team a bit more. I don't like how there were so many possible party members (over 70, I think?) so I pretty much just stuck to my favorite 3 or 4 the whole time the one time I played this.

I'm really looking forward to this! I played the first few hours of Cross back in the day and really liked what I played, I was just terrible at sticking through games at the time. I'd get this just for Cross on its own, but Radical Dreamers makes this a must-own release as someone who has really wanted to see an official re-release of that and other Satellaview games for years! I hope it'll get a physical release, but if not, I'll pick it up on the eShop day one.

@Tasuki Such a blasphemous statement. Personally I rate Cross higher than Trigger. Cross's music alone is legendarily good. The cast of characters is vast and interesting. And the combat system requires at least a bit of thought and strategy, as opposed to simply mash the A button or auto-battling like you would in many other rpgs.

Hopefully the music is at least as memorable as the PS1 Final Fantasy games. I will find out what the magic system is like. I hope it’s not as confusing as the junction in FF8.

Good to know the music in Cross is really good. I will definitely give this game a try. Planning on getting it on release day.

The main problem with FF8 is the fact that enemies level with the characters. If you know how to game FF8's progression system, the game is rather easy. Unfortunately, most rpgs ask players to grind levels in order to pass gear checks. In FF8 that'll get you in trouble quickly.

Chrono Cross's combat isn't complicated. It's a two-tier color and stamina system. Enemies (including bosses) are weak to one particular color and character actions are limited to a stamina meter that dictates the number of actions they can do per turn. In all honesty, CC's combat isn't much more complicated than Pokemon or Shin Megami Tensei.

Find the boss's weakness and load up on those abilities.
