Hi all. I tried searching but noted that there is a little confusion about charging switch with power banks.
I have a regular power bank for charging phones. Can i charge the switch while it is in sleep mode without any risks?
I've used RAVPower power bank 26800mAh for a while, in both sleep and whilst in use and had no issues. I think there's something to be said for the a) the make of the power bank b) the output voltage you're going to be using & C) the cable you connect to the switch.
Oh it's worth noting I've been using the same power bank to charge controllers up too (Switch, PS4 & Xbox One) as sometimes it's easier to do that on the couch than using a long lead. There is def some confusion, so ultimately I try to use the dock where possible.
@outback So long as it's a standard bank with a USB to USB-C cord there should be no issue. I use one regularly when I travel and I have used it for over a year without issue. (thankfully)
All the issues I have heard of come from people using non-standard cables/docks and various "fast charge" devices.

It is a regular power bank but it was not shipped with usb to usb-c cable. I'd use the cable provided with the pro controller. Do you think it is not safe to use that power bank?
I have found several 20,000mah+ on Amaz-on , and found the companies that make the same exact ones but slapped the Switch logo on it and charge 2-4x as much, Anker is a good example, i bought a non-Switch branded 50,000mah bank for $30, lasts forever, I see 20,000mah Switch banks selling for $80-$120 umm, come on people, branding isn't all that special, and "You Get What You Pay For" is a two way street, that one you overpaid for.......well, it was well worth it because it has a franchises logo on it

@outback I have had great success charging using powerbanks, but, don't charge using la bank that holds less than 10,000mah, it's vary slow and if the bank is too small capacity, like those $5 cigarette lighter sized rectangular ones you find in gas stations, it will actually DRAIN your Switch, go to Amaz you know where, they have some fantastic 50,000mah banks for less than $30, I have 5, to cover all my electronics in case of emergencies or long car trips
and worry not about cords, a USB - USB-C adapter or USB-B (micro-USB) - USB-C adapter are very safe
