@Dreamliner I get the impression the inclusion of an identical 3DS version was initially greenlit at a time when Nintendo were unsure how successful the Switch was going to be. Now they are sure the Switch will be a success, Nintendo decided not to cancel the 3DS version because they still need cheap titles to release on it to keep up some kind of support.

Played the game on Wii U and have now downloaded the demo for both Switch and 3DS. Had talked myself out of double-dipping but it's hard to resist as this is such a brilliantly designed and relaxing to play puzzle game.

Tried the demo. Cute little game, and I can see the appeal, but this seems like something I would have enjoyed when I was like 8 years old, rather than now.
Captain Toad for me feels like Very sweet Cream cake. Very sweet, very cute, so once you finished one stage, you felt enough, didn't make you want to replay again the same stage unless if you missed something.
Finding the urge to buy this again so hard to resist. I hate double dipping but Switch has already made me do it twice and here I am ready to do it again even though all logic is telling me not to.
Tried the demo on my good old original 3DS, and it runs well and looks great. At this point nintendo could just go full circle and port 3D World to the 3DS.
This blue eye perceives all things conjoined. The past, the future, and the present. Everything flows and all is connected. This eye is not merely seen reality. It is touching the truth. Open the eye of truth... There is nothing to fear.
For the moment, the Wii U is muchhhh more interesting than the Switch...
In your case it was about the price but not only that is better, everything else too...
Dual screen gameplay, Eshop miles away cooler, the grip is far better with the gamepad, Wii games are instantly readable no need to rebuy the same games again and again, Online is free, the Virtual Console is just awesome etc... etc...
The mask of the Switch falls, I see more and more people selling their Switch now and the atrocious E3 Direct helped a lot to take that kind of decision.
Funny fact, I was surfing on a french website and guess what was the 1st subject ?
" J'ai revendu ma Switch " meaning " I have sold my Switch ".
