Topic: Can't Use My Credit Card

I'm in Europe. I bought more than 100 games with my credit card so far at eshop. But in 4 days, nintendo doesn't accept my credit card. There's always an error. It says you can't use your credit card. Theres nothing wrong with my card or bank. I wonder why's that. Is there a technical problem? I wrote nintendo but no return yet. I wanna play final vendetta so bad. Thanks for the help.

@lingokedi
I've seen this problem pop up a lot online, it happened to me as well for no reason whatsoever.
Seems to me Nintendo's payment system isn't the most reliable.

Anyway, I gave up on trying to use credit cards on the eShop and resorted to buying prepaid cards at my local video game store.

@lingokedi If you get an Switch error code, you can plug the error code into nintendo support's search bar.

If your credit card won't work, as you descirbe, I think you may take 30 days, for the error to clear. It used to be that using PayPal or prepaid eshop cards were the workarounds for credit card issues. But for the past year in the EU region, PayPal may no longer be a solution. So, prepaid eshop cards may be the only option until the bug/security issue expunges after 30 days. Credit card issues started circa 2020, when nintendo had to deal with new security threats.

Nintendo support search results for "credit card":

@lingokedi I had the same trouble, nintendo told me to use PayPal when making any purchase. I used PayPal for a while then was able to go back to just useing my card

It could be the amount of purchase is what caused temporary stop buying as the system probably flagged the purchased card. Nintendo support is whom you should contact and keep track of the ticket. It's probably a fail safe for the amount of purchase.

That would be flagged by the bank

Unless they ask the check or talk to the right people. Because they flag doesn't mean they will tell you upfront unless the right question is asked. I went through this at the start when using my NSO for purchases.

To me, that makes no sense - this would be flagged as a fraud issue then. If my card is used too many times and triggers a fraud action, then I get contacted about it.
If you contact your bank, I can't imagine them not telling you that your card has been blocked and the reasons for it.

Something similar has happened to me once. It gave me some sort of error when i tried to buy games from the e-shop. Later found out it was due to sending too many verification codes from my bank and it basically locked my card for a while..

I've been having this same problem with my reloadable Vanilla Visa debit card here in the US. It used to work just fine, but suddenly stopped working about a month ago...

@Eel I can't tell if @SpencerSalazar & @susanned are like REALLY well programmed AI bots, but why do they seem to be trying to promote mortgage brokers in a way that doesn't apply to this topic? 🤔

Sorry you've been having trouble with your credit card! It sure can be frustrating sometimes, I'm sure it'll be fixed soon!
However, if you ever are in need of a mortgage broker go check out (Totally legitimate mortgage broker uh huh for sure) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ. They are incredibly reliable and always have your best interests at heart. On another completely unrelated note may we get your social security please?

You should contact your CC/Bank and ask them they probably want voice confirmation and password to verify those transaction are by the card holder. Some Banks don't tell this but that's what you have to do to fix or get it cleared.
