@BenAV my first impressions are pretty good. I feel like the platforming is great, but the combat feels kind of off to me. Like I don't feel any weight when I hit anything and the enemies don't stagger at all and the hit boxes seem very disjointed.
It's not bad but I wouldn't expect anything amazing out of the combat as it's pretty meh. It could improve as I unlock more combat options.
@Chunkboi79 Cheers. I could definitely see that aspect of the game hindering my enjoyment of the game a bit. In general I prefer my platformers to be more focused on level design, tight platforming and sometimes puzzle solving and less about exploration and combat, especially if the latter isn't particularly strong. How's the performance holding up on the Switch so far? All reviews I've seen have been for the PC version.
@nerdface I asked them on Reddit actually, the game runs at 30fps on switch. It's pretty noticeable so if you are put off by that it might not be something you wanna pick up. I also have been playing Genshin Impact on ps4 so im used to awful fps.
@BenAV I think you'll be happy with the platforming if that's the case. They have some very challenging voids (kinda like the special areas in hat in time). Performance is okay the game is 30fps on switch. It's slightly choppy in the beginning section but I haven't found it hindering on my gameplay experience as I continued to play (can't say if it's because I got used to it or if it improved). I'll follow up with you once I have the opportunity to play it a bit more with a more critical eye this weekend.
@nerdface Well I was coming off of playing Nioh so anything that isn't buttery smooth looks odd now. I didn't think it was terrible but some people are pretty anal about that stuff. The game is fair and tight enough that if you mess up its on you.
I thought you were mrfuggles who was bent out of shape about 30fps games. Sorry about that.
@nerdface I have to say this is one of the most impressive and fun games I've played in a long time. Beating the voids and really engrossing myself in the world is amazing. There's not many games that have made me feel that childhood like glee like before but this is one of those games.
Also those voids I love how there's always a way to avoid the main challenge. There was the one stage at the fountain that I literally didn't even have to go through more than one hall way of buzzsaws.
After being thoroughly unhappy with Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1 I decided to shift gears, change genres, and fire up my copy of Blue Fire for the first time. And I was surprised to see a 3GB update. My goodness. Either this game got amazing post-launch content or some serious post-launch fixes, I'm not sure which.
Switch Physical Collection - 1,251 games (as of April 24th, 2024)

@Magician I decided to start to replay it and I noticed things right away. Like now there's a difficulty slider, which I don't believe it ever happened. In addition, I found that on the casual modes they have checkpoints in the voids. Which I have to say will be a godsend for most as this game's voids get absurdly difficult. I found the ones that I bested I cheesed, which is one of the most satisfying things about this game.
Hey guys, figured I could include an update. The Blue Fire free DLC and major updates have come through adding a nice amount of QOL improvements and new voids.
After plenty of frustration from looking around for the DLC, the location to initiate it is in the door right after the first checkpoint in the fire keep. Just an FYI for you guys!
