Anyone having battery depleted in 50min in handheld mode?
Also when it is completely empty I cant just plug it to the charger and carry on playing..it takes around 30min??

@zsguerreiro It sounds like you have a faulty unit. I suggest taking it back to the retailer and exchanging it for a new one. That is not meant to happen.

Been playing mostly docked but I will test this out and see how I go.
I know many reporting just over 2 hours in zelda but no way of knowing how bright/loud etc.

What were you playing and what screen brightness and/or volume levels do you mostly use?

I was playing Zelda, auto brightness, low volume. Tried again this morning, same..I guessing it is either the adapter or the console that is not charging properly.
whichever it is its quite annoying, was hoping to take this on holiday and I am pretty sure if it is faulty and I return the unit it will take a couple of weeks to get a hold of a new one as no one seems to have stock

Thats a shame...just played mine at 3/4 brightness and full audio for 1 hour and it only dropped down to 80 %.

Pre-release I also read those with preview units could only achieve a maximum of 80% charge while playing and charging at the same time. Not sure if that was a pre-launch day patch issue but either way mine fully charges while docked/playing.

Try calling nintendo customer support to see if there is a sequence to flush and reset before returning the unit.

That's not normal. I played for half an hr and still had 80% + left.

@skadollax
The absolute min you'll get, playing Zelda on full brightness, auto brightness off, sound at max and wifi signal on... is 2.5 hrs. Even just turning auto brightness on (which is way better than Wii U and 3DS feature I might add), not having audio quite all the way up and wifi signal off lands it over the 3 hr mark.

Yeah..I thought so. so disappointed.
Have any of you tried to play in handheld mode while charging the console at the same time?

I have the same problem. My switch only last 1 hour 10 mins portable mode.
I will be going into game store and resolving this issue.
Even when i switch off the unit not sleep mode actually off it uses 25 to 39% power. So when i turn it back on its only got 71% left. This is with the joy cons attached and detached!! Same results. I think my unit might have a fault battery

Mine lasts about 1 hour 30 mins but if I turn it of when it says low battery and wait a few mins then turn it back on it says it has more battery
