I'd have preferred a single player demo as it's a bit overwhelming to be battling online when you're not yet familiar with ththe controls.
But at least I'll get to try the demo this time because it's not limited to set times. And I think a multi player demo will convince more fence sitters than perhaps a single player demo would achieve.
The tread on the soles of the character's shoes is something no other developer would think of. And Spring Man's curly-cue sideburns are nice. I still don't love how he, the rest of the humans, and especially Kid Cobra are masked though. Especially in KC's case, it just feels like a character looking for a design.
But the music is much much much better than the visual art style in my opinion. The Mario Kart team always pairs with great composers, and I love how much they do with just "ohhh oh oh oh" and "na na na naaa!" Bringing in the female singer as well as the guy was an amazing choice. I love operatic stuff in soundtracks, and ARMS' singing just sounds happy and upbeat when so many others use that style to be dreary and at times overdramatic. Other examples of opera like arms would be Final Fantasy XV and Nier.
Also interesting to note that the DLC plans are more characters stages and arms — all of which correspond to each other. So we'll probably see 4ish more fighters and stages added over time, each of which will be all nicely themed and everything. I wonder if the 'Final Destination' stage will be added to the selection, but it seems as though there won't be any new modes added.
Wow, can I just say this game lives up to the expectations of being Switch's first 100% 9th gen exclusive game? I'm just... floored with how good this game looks.
And please, please let it get an official art design book like Splatoon.
Bomberman was first.
Wouldn't 1-2-Switch technically be the first? First game announced at the Nintendo Presentation as well if I recall.
Anywho, I was already sold on ARMS the moment I tried it at January. But Nintendo really have knocked the ball out of the park when it came to making a good boxing game.
I knew it wouldn't have been much of a STRETCH to raise my expectations for this game
Woah. So I just noticed that, in the preview event footage, there is an 11th character and stage icon with a question mark. So perhaps there will be one final unlockable character and stage at launch — presumably that final boss guy we got a glimpse of in the Direct.
@Grandpa_Pixel RIP wallet. @FGPackers Well, I already wanted a second set of joycon and i didn't like the blue red combo because I have the grey ones that came with the switch. So I can never match 2 blue ones or 2 red ones. Then I saw the yellow joycon and pre-ordered right away.
@NickOfTime90 Your talk is right, but for me is quite different. I don't think i will need more joy-cons for the reason i said before, especially for this game. So i'm good with base blue and red. I don't pay so much attention to all colours, even though they are really awesome. I just want controllers to play games
By the way i want to know just ONE thing during the Testpunch. It's just a curiosity since this will not affect my choice of maintaining the pre-order, but i want to know: the HD rumble feelings with this game. I think (and hope) that with ARMS this can be taken on a higher level than on Mario Kart

If I recall there was HD rumble from my experience of ARMS but I am not 100% sure. I was too busy pummeling my boyfriend with him as Master Mummy and me as Spring Man. I won.
I hope the combat just feels satisfying at a base level. The right combination of rumble, audio, and visual cues can make something feel downright violent and satisfying, but a lot of current Nintendo games are ignoring those lessons from the past in favor of cartoonish, plasticy sounds and effects. To the point where hitting a fool with a green shell in Mario Kart feels more satisfying than stabbing monsters in Zelda and freezing them with ice arrows. I suppose the MK pedigree bodes well for ARMS in that case, but we'll see.
