The great thing about fighting games is that, if you hate a character like, let's say, Nothin' Personal, Kid Cobra, you can just never play them and instead pick counter characters and beat them into oblivion every time they dare show their face.
Did I mention punching things? Most video games are more satisfying when you add violence.
The other fighters wearing a mask is one thing, but Kid Cobra just seems like next level laziness to me. It doesn't look like he's wearing a helmet so much as a sneaker. His chestguard, arms (as in his literal arms not his fake ARMS 'arms' that go where his hands would), and puffy pants all seem miss-matched to me. The curviness of his body and his heterochromia are the most interesting things about his design, but dude still looks more like a walking wardrobe than an actual person with — among other things — a face.
It kinda makes sense that Kid Cobra's arms (and legs, for that matter) don't match up with the rest of his body considering, well... snakes aren't supposed to have those. If anything, the real odd part of his design is that he looks more like an extreme stunt driver (dirt bike/ATV) with that "helmet" than a skateboarder.
Still, he looks to be my main choice for an evasive fighter. Spring Man and Min-Min will be my "standard" fighters, with Byte & Barq as the quirky choice.
Wow, can I just say this game lives up to the expectations of being Switch's first 100% 9th gen exclusive game? I'm just... floored with how good this game looks.
And please, please let it get an official art design book like Splatoon.
Bomberman was first.
Eh, I mean Nintendo's exclusives, the ones built for the system by Nintendo, and Arms was clearly designed ground up for Switch, based on the Joycon.

Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
I can dig Kid's design. It fits perfectly with his Schtick. A slick, laid back and outlandish character who seeks attention and glory. The fact that he's in it just for his viewership is significant.
I think Min Min has a similar motivation to raise the profile of her family restaurant, but wanting to get more views on your livestreams is sooooo... 2017.
On another topic, wouldn't it be interesting if the official fighters with ARMS were actually some form of androids. The whole thing about them just waking up one day with ARMS just reminds me a lot about the Nexus-6 situation that occurs with androids. They also happen to have swirly eyes for some reason along with mention of an overlying corporation that seems to specialize in the area. Nintendo also likes to do stories that have touches of somewhat darker themes so I wouldn't be surprised if something like this was the case.
Selfie Sticks were pretty common for a time and they weren't too bad. I don't see them around anymore, though, but they were pretty helpful. If taking lots of selfies and or filming stuff is your thing.
@Tsurii I'm with you on that.I live in a busy tourist resort and I see those stupid things on a daily basis.Down the beach,in shopping malls, restaurants and even in supermarket aisles.Hate the things!
@Tsurii I'm not big on social media in general, but for me it's more that Nintendo's designated writer said "What can I say to typify young people? Young people, young people... OH, selfie-stick. Got it!"
That just kills me, that and how his character model clearly looks like the least work went into it out of the bunch.
Alright, thoughtstream time. I noticed Min Min has those little white and pink ramen spiral things on her arms (real arms not fake ARMS 'arms') that continue her ramen theme. They are called narutomaki and are the namesake their more popular character counterpart, Naruto.
The fishy food itself is made to resemble the real life Naruto Whirlpools that form in the narrow channel beneath the like-named Naruto bridge. The reason why this is such a revelation to me is because the whirlpools and forming under a bridge area a dead ringer for the Mushroom Bridge track in Mario Kart: Double Dash, and likely their inspiration. I've raced that course probably more than a hundred times, and really wish I had a better picture of it (the pools are even shown in the course fly-over before a race)!
Anyone else have the feeling ARMS evolved from Project Giant Robot?? I know there are no real similarities but it feels like the game Project Giant Robot would have become with time and why it stayed on Nintendos release schedule despite never being revealed more.
I wonder (but i think it will be a sure yes) if there will be a kind of site/something that will list all abilities for both characters and weapons so you can study your personal combo...
@bluemage1989 You may have a point there. I think it would be fair to say that some motion control mechanics from Project Giant Robot have been preserved/survived the cut and have been worked into ARMS.
