The only things that come to mind to me are Shinsekai: into the Depths (which is on Switch) or the old Ecco the Dolphin games (Genesis/MD games that may be on NSO).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Snatcher

I hope not, ai always dreaded those levels. Mario odyssey being the exception.

Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Snatcher Same. Its not for me. I keep trying to tell them that it’ll be difficult to find due to the general dislike of them in the gaming community.

@Ironcore Earth Atlantis is 2D and underwater, but it's a shmup rather than a platformer.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?

I never minded water levels to be honest. Some of them are even among my favorites.
Water Land is my second favorite land in Super Mario Bros 3 (after Sky Land), and Bubble Man in Mega Man 2 and Star Man in Mega Man 5 (technically a space level but has the same kind of physics water levels use) are among my favorite 2D stages ever. They change up the gameplay for a bit and I like them for that reason.

Edit: I have much more trouble with ice levels, come to think of it.

Maybe something like Arielle. There are quite a few games. You should expect some land levels but if I remember correctly, it's mostly water levels.

Ariel the Little Mermaid Capcom Gameboy &

Song of the Deep Is a 2d Metroidvania entirely under water and you play a fish man’s daughter trying to rescue her father are the only 2 I can think off

Thunderjaws I recall was mostly under water. There was a level in a underwater base with woman getting turned into lizard woman..

Sky blazer Snes stage 3 is all underwater and plays much like Mario

There’s nothing on the telly except a nice vase

Similar to @gcunit 's suggestion, there is Astro Aqua Kitty - but it isn't a platformer

@Ironcore I know, if you like it cool, but most people don’t, and I know I don’t lol.
