Topic: Are the games in Collection of Mana running faster ?

Hi, thanks to some offer on an online shop I decided to buy Collection of Mana, because after all I had only played Secret of Mana hundreds of times before, and I wanted to hit the thousands.

Has anyone bought the collection and felt that the game was running faster (especially SoM since I am not that familiar with the other two) ? It first hit me at the end of the introduction, when you can see the 3D animation of the overworld, and that the ominous 'aaaaaaah' choir-like sound started way too late. It may sound like a detail, but I have played the game so many times that it really struck me.

Then I started playing I also felt that the animations ran faster and more smoothly, the character responded more nervously — which is all good, and I am surprised to have never read about this in the reviews. Did they manage to improve the FPS ? (the music and sound fx are the same as the original versions, not pitched up nor sped up, hence the unfortunate sound/image syncing at the end of the introduction).

Anyway really glad to be able to play these games in an official, legal (and portable) kind of way again.

Did you play the PAL version before? I think most PAL versions of retro games ran 20% slower compared to the NTSC 60Hz versions.

@Kawaiipikachu and @JoakimZ you're both right, I've only played the PAL versions. Thanks for explaining, the game runs smoother than way.

But it still doesn't explain why the sound effects in the intro are off sync.
