Been out at work but man, I am in heaven about that SNK Arcade collection and the info and images posted so far. I think this might be my new most anticipated release of the year. Is it coming 2018?

Can anyone help me out with advice of how best to pre-order this SNK Collection? I can only see a U.S. price of 64.99 dollars. Will this limited edition come to the UK and be stocked by say Amazon UK? Or do I need to import it from the SNK website? Will that cost me import charges on top?

@Lroy The LE is published by NIS so I'm guessing it won't come to retailers like Amazon. NIS also publishes Ys VIII and the LE is only available at the NIS store whereas the standard physical edition is available everywhere. As for it coming to the UK I don't know the answer to that. Hopefully you'll get a yes or no before the US edition sells out.

@mauhlin12 having these on your system at all times will certainly be a lot more practical. But I can't say no to a physical edition of a game I want.
Right now, Ys VIII is my most wanted game for the summer.
I certainly can't blame you for wanting to spread the Ys love! I wish more people would try it out and discover just how great this series is. It's such a breath of fresh air to play, especially these days.
I already have the Vita version I picked up at launch, but once I heard about the Switch version, I held off on playing it.
@Lroy
Hold off a bit on ordering it for now.
There's a good chance that it'll pop up on the European NISA site in the next couple of weeks.
I'm subscribed to their news letter and am actually a platinum member at their store, so I'll let you know as soon as there is any news.
Pretty much everything that the US branch puts out gets a EU one as well, so no need to worry.

@Lroy I have emailed NISAEurope Store to see if they are stocking it.

Farsight have really nailed Pinball Arcade on Switch.

I've had it on PS3, PS4, Xbox, mobile and now Switch and this is the most impressive version so far IMO. The lighting is beautiful.

My only concern with the SNK collection is how they handle the games that used a rotary joystick of which there at least four. I was the developer, I would use the trigger buttons to rotate the character. The L and R buttons can rotate slowly and the ZL and ZR buttons can rotate faster.

Damn, that SNK collection is amazing! Definite must-buy (even if i already have probably half of the games on other systems).

@meppi64 @mauhlin12
You are both good and correct humans for correctly observing and subscribing to the fact that Ys is a super-excellent-amazing series. The upcoming Switch release is definitely among my most anticipated games for the year.

@the_shpydar I had never played Ys until I got Ys Origin on PS4 last year. I've since beaten Ys VIII, Ys Book 1&2 on Wii, and about half of Ys VI on PS2. I can't believe I didn't jump on this series until recently but hey better late than never. Now to get all the Ys games on Switch!

@BalloonFighter I would prefer dual analogue tbh. Even if it's to aim and you press a button to shoot. It's far more immediate.

@mauhlin12
I too got into the series relatively "late", but for me it was the TG16 Ys Book I & II release on Wii VC. And it was totally a result of watching Johnny Millenium's (aka Happy Console Gamer) excellent YT video on the series (the first one he did; he's done a few as it's one of his favorite game series of all time). He's about a year older than me and we have a lot of the same tastes in things and similar growing-up backgrounds (despite he being Canadian and me being a filthy New Yorker ), and the clear passion and love he has for the Ys series made me have to check it out.

Since then i've bought and played just about every game in the series (some of them multiple times) — the aforementioned VC release of 1&2, the remade 1&2 (the "Chronicles" PSP version release), the Master System version of Ys I, Ys III on both Genny and SNES as well as Oath of Felghana (my favorite entry in the series), translated repro carts of Ys IV (Mask of the Sun) and Ys V on SNES, Ys VI (PSP), Ys VII (PSP) and Origins (on Steam). The only games i haven't played thus far are the alternate versions of IV (Dawn of Ys and Memories of Celceta) and Ys VIII. And Ys Strategy, but that one doesn't count.

I would absolutely love some sort of Ys collection on Switch, no matter what was included. Not expecting it to ever happen, but it would be amazing!

The only problem with that is those rotary joysticks were 12 position instead of the 8 way most joysticks are now. They were pretty revolutionary at the time.

GrailUK

@BalloonFighter Must confess I don't remember 12 positions. In fact I'm a tad confused where the extra 4 positions would live :/

I have a question. Didn't Hamster recently announce pre NEO-GEO SNK games were coming to arcade archives? Doubt there will be cross-over, so maybe their very early stuff (or the stuff mentioned in the museum that was not playable) will be coming too?

Pinball Arcade removed from US store due to 'licencing issues'. Hope it's back up soon.

@meppi64 and you guys talking about old-gen consoles games... You got me so pumped up that I had to dust off my old faithful PSP... Then in a blink of an eye I found myself on eBay buying a lot of Lumines 2 and Valkyrie Profile Lenneth brand new for 15 euro just because hey, PC + Switch backlogs weren't enough already... Damn you guys!

The original fire has died and gone, but the riot inside moves on.

@monkeyspasm Damnit no!
Hopefully they won't have to pull any tables.

@RetroGamerAndrew
Yeah, sorry about that!
Those are 2 great picks though. And right now is still the perfect time to go for PS3,360,Wii,PSP and DS games since they go for very cheap, besides a couple of rare ones that are starting to climb in price.
It's a great way to fill out your collection without breaking the bank.

btw, do you have both WipEout games? I've got the free WipEout Pure DLC packs sitting here if you want them? Got all 3 versions actually, Pal, USA and Japan, since certain tracks were exclusive.
They were released for free back in the day, but are no longer being hosted on the site as far as I'm aware.
If you want it, let me know.

Also, if you don't have these already, you might want to hit up Youtube and check them out.
Castlevania Dracula X Chronicles. (Includes the 3D remake of the PC-Engine Rondo of Blood, as well as the original version, and on top of that Castlevania Symphony of the Night.
Loco Roco 1 and 2.
Patapon 1,2,3
Both Ridge Racers naturally, even though I wish they didn't have the nitro system

Aw heck, I'll just end up posting a whole list if I keep this up.

Instead, perhaps go on youtube and look for PSP Hidden Gem videos to get some less obvious choices.
Although it's a bit dangerous, as you'll end up wanting to buy even more games.

And speaking of Ys, I always loved this particular GameSack episode, even though it's already 5 years old:

The Happy Console Gamer has quite a few excellent Ys videos as well.
