Topic: Anyone else got a headache from luigi’s mansion

The blurriness of the environment on luigi’s mansion 3 is killing my eyes. I can literally see every frame. Im 6 hours in but with a bit of a migraine level of pain. It eases off very quickly even while playing anything else with a decent framerate. Anyone else got this issue? Any tips, tv settings etc, ive tried a few things.

You may be super human, a complete troll, your TV may be busted, or your Switch is broken. The game runs with a very healthy frame rate and is so stable it almost shocks me it's running on the Switch at all.

I do think it's blurry once Luigi starts running. At least that's where I notice the 30fps

@sixrings
Again it may be problems with settings on your TV, if you have fake 120 hz motion settings turned on it, it very well could smear the image. I am playing with proper settings on my 4k TV and it looks great, even in motion

I haven't noticed a single issue with the games performance. I'm not one who ever has in most games though. The only game i can say really gave me a head ache was wolfenstien Youngblood because of the blurriness.

@Old_Man_Nintendo I turned them off my Samsung 8000u 4k tv. Either way I can notice it. But I also thought Kirby WAs super jarring at 30fps. When the game is static it looks amazing though.

@NintendoByNature 60fps games somehow always run better on my 4k tv. Although I wish splatoon was 1080p the 60fps makes it run great. Obviously the best is 1080p 60fps gaming but as countless supporters on here will note not even PS4 games all run 1080p 60fps. Because clearly running the new modern warfare and Luigi's mansion 3 is basically the same...

Ill see if i can video it. Its pretty bad. Its like i can see every frame. When its still or im moving around a small room it looks amazing.

@sixrings I think I'm one of the few that doesn't notice 60fps compared to 30fps. Unless it's a first person shooter then im sure I would if someone pointed it out to me or did a side by side.

@NintendoByNature I think it's actually the other way around: the "I need 60fps in my life or else I'm going to go insane or die" crowd is definitely a minority, albeit a very vocal one...

What the actual problem is, in my opinion, that people don't investigate enough, doing plenty of research on various TV's and their modes, to make sure that you'll get one that actually has a solid game mode and low latency upscaling and/or refresh rate. There's currently only a handful of models on the market, that fit that bill (while ticking all the boxes as well). And even if people do get the right screens, they don't always know how to configure them correctly for their individual needs.

The general advice in all of these cases is: do plenty of research, and use multiple sources, so you can cross-reference reviewer's findings.

For example, this is the list of sources that I would use, if I was currently going to buy a TV to fulfill my gaming needs:

And I'd even go as far as to say as that is the bare minimum of sources that I'd use. Just walking into a store and getting advice from some store clerk, even a senior one, doesn't suffice anymore in this day and age...

@ThanosReXXX makes sense, and good advice. I definitely know who to consult when looking for a tv Strictly for gaming 😉

The game looks and runs great on my TV, not blurry at all.

@ThanosReXXX I'll openly admit when I had the switch hooked up to my Sony xbr 1080p tv it was notably better. The TV just has to do too much processing to scale up the resolution and frame rates on 4k tv's. The Sony's in the basement. But I rarely go in the basement other than once a year to look after the furnace.

Btw rtings.com gave my top of the line 4k Samsung great reviews for upscalling and gaming. But it's still not as good as a native 1080p tv. It just isn't. I just got rid of my xbox one x today. So I'm not a graphics snob but to say there isn't a massive difference is objectively wrong.

@NintendoByNature Well, thanks for the compliment. And I'll gladly provide you with some info, whenever you're up for buying a new screen for gaming or otherwise.

@sixrings Yup, they have pretty good screens. Always had, even from way back in the CRT days. For retro gaming, Sony's also the best, with their PVM Monitors. And this is coming from someone who absolutely hates any and all things Sony, but I'll always objectively acknowledge quality, no matter where it comes from.

As for upscaling: of course that's never as good as native resolutions. You're still working with an artificially modified picture of a lower resolution, so it's never going to be as good as the real thing, so kind of kicking in an open door there. No offense...

@sarethums your issue makes me wonder what size tv you're playing on. Logic being, larger TVs can make flaws more visible. (forgive me if someone else mentioned this. I skimmed through the comments)
