I lost the text I was typing... 😭

In short, I haven't played 4 yet, in spite of having played the others at launch. Pikmin (1) is my favourite because of the "real" time and difficulty that is something that Pikmin needs as a combination of survival and real-time strategy. The only flaw I can find in this game is the short length, but it's very replayable. It should be mentioned that Pikmin 1 was one of the most beautiful games on any platform and I believe is one of the best Nintendo games ever. Puzzles are good, the management of time is interesting and collecting treasure is satisfying.

Pikmin 2 adds interesting species and additional content and challenge as randomly generated caves, but the "real" time is no longer important. It feels like Pikmin Remixed.

Pikmin 3 is nicely done, but it's too "casualised" (like Mario has been) and the difficulty is too low to make players feel that sense of danger and survival that Pikmin 1 gives and that is what I love about Pikmin in the first place. Not even a relatively small IP like Pikmin is safe at Nintendo. I hope that I enjoy 4.

So, 1 > 2 > 3.

I was pretty disappointed with 4. There were a couple of things I enjoyed from the game, but for the most part it had a ton of issues. One being the number of caves and how it felt like there weren't that many caves with a ton of floors. Another issue I took is that the game retcons all of the other Pikmin games, acting like none of them happened and that all of them were just bad dreams that Olimar had.
