Nah, just do time travel if you want to go back on certain days.
It was not something taboo.
I did Time Travel hundred times like nothing wrong to do that.

Just got the festivale garland, and like the confetti machine it's also red. Since red is my favorite color I'll be happy with the variants I get. I'm quite lucky that I'm getting the red kinds on my island.

@johnvboy Yeah, I missed the first day of getting the festivale items so you're not alone. I do recommend getting them too. Buying them at Nook's Cranny is the only way FYI, it's not possible to get/gift them via the Nook Shopping app.
