Hi guys. I'm new to the Nintendo world (Last Nintendo item i owned was a gameboy color). Recently, I picked up a Switch oled and my wife and I have fallen inlove with it. However, when she plays her games ie ACNH and I play my games ie Pokemon obviously only one of us can play at a time. To combat this we decided to by a second Switch. This time a lite. We were hoping that we could play our games on both switches depending on whether we wanted to play docked or handheld. All our games are the physical catridges as we prefer it that way. However we are finding it hard to set it up that way. Ive looked online and the only solutions seems to be more applicable for poeple who have a digital copy of the games. Im not after playing the same game on 2 switches at the same time. Me and the wife just want to be able to enter our favourite game on the switch, play then turn off that switch, enter that cartridge on the lite and play the exact same game (as in not having to start a new game) and vice versa. However, this doesnt seem to be possible with the physical game cartridges. Am I correct? Only thing i can see is having to transfer the game data each time we decide to switch from 1 console to the other which seems kinda absurd in 2021. Thanks in advance.

Saves are stored on the Switch, @Jkturtle .... So, you have to transfer that to carry on the same game on another 1

It's mildly inconvenient, but you'll need to transfer save data every time you want to play on the other system.

And in the case of AC:NH, the island is tied to the console, and transferring save data would be impractical unless you intend for the transfer to be permanent.

It would have been better if you both had your own OLED Switches rather than having a lower-priority Lite that you also share.

Porygon did nothing wrong.

@Silly_G thanks for the response. We did consider getting a second oled but felt that the oled was abit too big to be playing in handheld mode on public transport. The lite we found is the perfect size (for us anyway) for that purpose and also less conspicuous in public.
