I was referring to the American market, where sales charts are released on a monthly basis. It is extremely difficult to break into the monthly US top 10 without AAA titles or well known IPs. You'll need to sell around 200k in a month like March just to break into the top 10. Zelda is the only Switch title capable of reaching that figure with a very limited supply of Switch consoles.
The situation is different for smaller markets like the UK. Sales charts are released on a weekly basis for the UK, and it's not as difficult to break into the weekly top 10. On a slow week, it only takes a few thousand. For the the Switch's launch week, 10k will be more than enough to make the top 10. Zelda and 1-2-Switch should hit that target fairly easily. Skylanders has a decent chance. Just Dance has a slim chance. Bomberman is going to struggle.
You guys are crazy if you don't think 1 2 switch will chart. Zelda will likely be at position 1 (global) or 3 (U.K.) but I can promise you 1 2 switch will chart in each country. Bomberman will be the lowest on the chart if it charts at all.
Take a look at the NPD monthly chart for November 2006.
Wii sales - 476k
Zelda TP sales - 412k
I think it's pretty clear who the early adopters of the Switch are going to be. It's not the casual parents who are thinking about picking up 1-2-Switch. It's the hardcore gamers who Pre-ordered the system as soon as they possibly could, to play Switch BOTW on day 1.
@MumboJumbo you do realize wii sports was bundled so not counted here. 1 2 switch is not. Zelda will be near the top of npd. 1 2 switch will chart. It's already made it's way onto the coming pre order chart in Japan and it still has over 40 days to go. The only thing that's going to hurt Nintendo on the npd is their refusal to give digital numbers when all the other guys are doing it.

1,2 switch has the potential to attract a huge amount of people if positioned and marketed correctly. Game seems like the type of thing that could attract the attention of people who arent into gaming but are simply looking for a good laugh, joy and fun in their home. People shouldnt underestimate how much value that has for people. Like I said this is on Nintendo to do well in communicating the game to the public, but once people can imagine that joy in their own house then honestly I can see another wii sports.
The possibility of this scenario is small but it hasnt been the first time Nintendo has been able to do this. For some reason people always see it as a coincidence or luck when nintendo succeeds at it, but I think nintendo has a knack for this kind of stuff..
People are assuming that not being a traditional video game or being casual or the possibility it won't be that great a game matter. I don't think so. If this weird idea fascinates the casual audience, it could sell really, really well.
I'm not sure that's going to happen, though. But you never know...
It's no surprise that 1-2 Switch failed to chart in the monthly US top 10. You are crazy for thinking it actually stood a chance against all of the other heavy hitters.
BOTW had an unprecedented 99% attach rate for Switch hardware. That tells you all you need to know. It was clear from the start who the early adopters were going to be.
@MumboJumbo i said you are crazy if you don't think it will chart. It did chart npd. There is an article about on the freaking first page of this site. Did you purposely pick that site listing a top ten when you know npd lists the top 20?
