With only a few days out till the Mario Kart World direct, fans are awaiting for more information about the upcoming game as Nintendo has gone on record stating the latest direct will change fans minds about the hefty price of $80, that the presentation will make them understand why it's priced like that
Even if the game has a high amount of content and replay-ability, will it be enough to convince fans that the price is worth it?
My opinion, no, many fans will still not be able to afford getting it on launch; HOWEVER! No matter how we feel about the price, and if Nintendo never changes it, fans will still buy the game along with the Switch 2
I have seen many fans and content creators state while they are NOT happy with the high price, they are financially stable enough to get it.
So, really, will this outrage of price from fans even matter at the end of the day as the game will probably sell very well? It's Mario Kart after all
I'm happy enough with the price compared to some of the third party games I've been interested in on Steam lately TBH. At least I know I'm going to get my money's worth from Mario Kart and most of Nintendo's other internally developed games. The console bundle makes it cheap as anyway.
No. But it is what it is. Personally I am expecting this to be a one off like TOTK was and that when the PS6 comes out games will be 80. But between people saying the price is 90 bucks (it isn’t), and ignoring that it’s the only game at 80 and is 50 in the bundle or that other switch 2 games are cheaper and PS5/Series x games are 70, there is nothing Nintendo can do. If they had made it 70 folks would still be mad.
I am wavering on my Zelda edition hold out. Might cave and buy at launch.

I cannot think of anything within reason that will get announced in the Direct that will flip the public perception on this. I'm getting the game for 30 quid in the bundle, which sounds like a bargain to me, BUT that bundle is also a GIFT someone else is paying for. I would personally probably still buy MKW for $80 USD, with Smash and MAYBE Splatoon being the only other Nintendo franchises I can see myself forking over that amount for atm.
I think NIntendo has inadvertently set up too much pressure for this new game, but at least when it's bundled, it's cheaper, and I do think MOST early owners if not in general for this game will be getting it through some bundle or other. As long as the matchmaking is as fast as it was on previous MK games I think we'll be good, but we've gotta remember that lobbies will also be twice as big! That said, MK8 was absolutely a monster of a game in terms of content support, quality, AND how many people picked it up, so I'm hoping that MKW will see a similar trickle of support and players as the new generation goes on.
