Now Nintendo has implemented the screen streaming technology that was used by the Wii U I wish they would patch back in the removed features from the Wii U ports.
I would buy a Switch Lite solely for this. (Play docked always but due to having a dpad I might occasionally stream Switch 2 games if I could live this).
Something like a Nintendo Land 2 would be good as well.
I also really hate the pausing to get the map that was solved for DS/3DS/Wii U
Maybe they could offer using the tablet app as an option instead. (Seen as the work is done I think they should take more advantage of it.)
I would buy an Ultimate Edition of Rayman Legends at full price if it could have the Murphy levels on the switch lite like they should be but still play on the tv.
Am I alone in being bothered about any of these things ?
I love the dual screen stuff on Wii U - even if it's just a map or inventory, as you say, it's way more convenient having it in your hands at all times. I suppose Zelda Notes might have been influenced by the GamePad functionality that was cut from BotW? The problem is having to have a mobile phone or second Switch kind of undermines the convenience compared to just having a second screen in the controller, but even so, it would be good to see Nintendo experiment with something like that.
Thank you Nintendo for giving us Donkey Kong Jr Math on Switch Online
Well Nintendo isn't above revisiting past ideas, so we'll just have to wait and see. (As I recall some of the GameCube titles that made use of the Game Boy Advance to GameCube link cable featured similar gameplay mechanics to what would be used with some Wii U titles.)
Yes the wii u had some good features. I used to play wii u games solely on the gamepad so the TV could be used for watching normal TV. However I must admit I typically preferred playing the wii u games with the pro controller when using the main tv as the gamepad was a little unwieldy but still useable. I also preferred the Gamecube controller for some games like Mario Kart 8 because of the analogue triggers and finely controlling accelerating and braking. It just felt right to me.
I think Nintendo was burned by consumer (and developer) rejection of the gamepad. Granted, they brought video chat back but I think they are focusing on mobile devices as a second screen, they likely won’t go back to a gamepad like device for a few gens. Long enough for the wiiu kids (as in was a child when wiiu came out) to be middle aged, to have a fresh gen on it. granted a lot of Nintendo’s design direction came from their now retirement age members. Once they all exit, Nintendo may shift to a different dynamic (and move away entirely from old ideas).

When I tried game share with 3D World plus Bowsers fury it was awful and I have a hard time believing this feature works as well as it did on the Wii U. At least on the Wii U you had to be further away or have line of sight blocked for it be AS*
