So I bought an LG OLED 4K TV in preparation for the Switch 2, and now I kind of feel like an idiot. None of Nintendo's first-party output so far seems to actually run at 4K, just like no first-party Switch games ran at 1080p. OLED aside, the picture quality might have actually been better on my old HD TV.
On top of that, the TV just randomly goes black for a couple of seconds every so often, which is pretty awful. Apparently this is an issue that LG TVs experience, and I'm now pretty surprised they get such high marks in consumer reports. For me, that would be a deal breaker when it came to rating a television.
So yeah, just feeling a bit bummed out and wondering if anybody else is having a similar experience.
I didn't buy anything specifically for the Switch 2 but I've played a bit on both my 85" 4K TV and 32" 4K monitor and have been pretty happy with how both Mario Kart and DK Bananza look on them.
Fortunately for me, I have not had a negative experience. I too upgraded from a cheap 4k TV to one that has more features (Hisense U8 Mini LED, in anticipation of the SW2 launch...bought it in December). It's been great for movies, and gaming has been improved as well. That's tough that your new TV is not performing well...hopefully a patch can improve performance.
I wouldn't buy a specific TV for the Switch 2 but you bought a great one, it will serve you well beyond just gaming. Haven't experiened the issue you describe, may be something wrong with it or a cable issue.
@LastFootnote If you have a reddit account, ask about your tv issue in the daily question thread pinned to the top of r/NintendoSwitch. I think that's the best place to ask switch/switch 2 questions in terms of getting the quickest response and getting serious answers.
(Longshot: On the switch, you could get intermittent black screen like you mention if the console's RGB Range didn't have the right setting. But I'm not sure this applies to switch 2 or not. You may has well look in switch 2 settings/Display try the other two RGB range options)
@WoomyNNYes I have tried changing many settings based on searching up Reddit threads, but I don't believe the RBG Range was one of them. And I also had this issue with the Switch 1. So thanks for the tip! Fingers crossed it'll help.

Unfortunately OLED televisions or many high end televisions to be honest have poor reliability, poor screen uniformity and other issues. Where they push technology to the limits they are less consistent. Often the cheaper 4K televisions are far more reliable and far more consistent in performance but of course their performance visually may not be quite as good. It's a bit like buying a Ferrari or a Toyota. I think I bought a 4K TV mainly for movies etc as at the time there wasn't really much about capable of running games at 4K except extremely expensive PCs. Also to be honest I'm not close enough to benefit from 4K in reality. I'm in that zone of distance where I can only really see 1080p resolution anyway.

I have an LG OLED C2 and am seriously thinking of selling it and going back to an LCD like I used to have. I can't stand the grainy effect on OLED although I'm told this is "normal" for OLED by the tech geeks, but I must be extra sensitive to it. Even the Switch 2 menu looks off on this thing. I also feel like my colours popped more on my old LCD TV. :-/
Funnily enough I had that issue with the screen briefly going black for the first time last night when playing DK Bonanza. Thought it was a glitch in the game until I read this.
