The Switch 1 has the Labo VR headset and some support including being able to play Zelda Breath of the Wild fully in VR but poorly configured. Nintendo dipped their toes into VR but now have a 1080p panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, more GPU and CPU performance and HDR support. It feels like we everything we need to make any Switch 1 game a full VR experience on Switch 2. There may have to be some graphic quality reduction to hit 1080p at 120Hz but still achievable.
Should they do it or is VR best ignored or perhaps delayed until there is a OLED Switch 2 version?
Should 3DS games come to Nintendo Online with VR headset support?
It feels to me something they should do especially as they now have more capable hardware that would be usable for a decent VR experience.
"What are the chances for an official Switch 2 VR Headset?"
I'd say fairly high, considering it was released 2 weeks ago. The Virtual Boy can be used to play select games in VR with high resolutions. Maybe its not the VR you're hoping for but, it exists.
"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"

Yeah I know there are those including the cardboard version but I meant a proper build plastic version with a head strap so you could use it for longer sessions in a more comfortable way. I guess it might rely on a third party to make a proper plastic Switch 2 VR headset. However what is needed is software support.
I would go with "not impossible, but not great". My own suspicion is that, if Nintendo had proximate plans for more VR stuff, they would have incorporated the Virtual Boy NSO into that, as part of its marketing. The fact that the larger size of the Switch 2 would make a wearable-headset much more awkward doesn't help.

A quick google shows the Switch 2 without controllers is about 400g and a typical VR headset with built in display is 500-700g so I think overall the Switch 2 could be a competitive size/weight for VR.
The Labo product was more of a mini VR experience based on the Switch 1 not being ideal as a VR display panel so you got a little tester for VR however my point is the Switch 2 is far more capable as a VR display panel with 120Hz and higher resolution. It feels like it could do VR on a higher level. PSVR1 has sold about 5 million units and PSVR2 over 2 million so far but high pricing has kept sales quite low. Nintendo could enter this sector with a cheap 80 dollar or less headset with perhaps a couple of digital download games included. I do understand there is some crossover with Virtual Boy but not much in my opinion. Really its more about software than the hardware though, I guess a third party could make a great Switch 2 VR enclosure but its not much use without software. I want Mario Kart VR not Virtual Boy games.
