And most importantly, it seems the d-pad on the pro controller works properly for Street Fighter now. I hated playing fighting games on Switch until I modded my joycon with a Basstop d-pad, and finally got the Mobapad M6 HD joycon (think Hori Split Pad Pro but with actual HD Rumble, gyro, wireless + system wake, mechanical buttons, Hall Effect analogs, 17 hr battery life, swappable d-pad and rocker, swappable faceplates and analogs, rear grip buttons for remapping and macros).

So with a proper d-pad and a mainline Street Fighter that looks extremely similar to power console versions, and reportedly has very low latency perhaps even besting power console versions (at the very least it should be in the same ballpark), Switch 2 could really become a legitimate platform for the genre.

I just need Mobapad to hurry up and release a Switch 2 version of the M6 HD joycon. But I doubt they'd be out til late 2026 cause I think they need to tear down the Joycon 2 first.

Even though there had been rumours of a 3D DK for ages and even though we knew some type of Kirby was inevitable, those two both managed to seriously surprise me. Honestly Nintendo did a good combination of expected things and unexpected things.

I love the Switch Pro controller and found it worked well enough for Ultra Street Fighter 2 and the few other fighting games I played, but I'll admit because of the extra horsepower of the other consoles most of the games I played in that genre are on PS4/5 and KoF XV on Series X. Truthfully, to me the big deal was finally get a headphone jack on the controller but if it makes fighting games more fun to play, that's even better. This hardware packs a punch so I expect if it sells well, SF 6 won't be the only fighter we see.

This will be my first console launch ever and I really hope I can get a midnight launch

I agree with most of what you're saying, but seriously, don't sleep on Disney's Inside Out movies. They are absolutely amazing and touching and creative - really really cool. For me at least (almost 40 ugh), walking out of the theater with my family from Inside Out 2 was one of those "life looks a bit different now" moments you mentioned.

Got my invite from My Nintendo today!
Bundle + pro controller + case.
That saved me around $200 usd compared to what they are asking for in the Swedish stores. That was not an option, but suddenly it felt "cheap".

Found out something about my preorder. Apparently i was charged the full amount immediately instead of a temporary hold being put on my card. Supposedly some stores have a policy of doing it that way if you buy with a debit card. I have chime so that's what happened. Good to know it's already paid for so i won't have to cover the purchase later once it's shipped.

@Truegamer79 Which Retailer is this? My BestBuy already released the hold and now I am going to wait for June 5 or that morning to pickup. I won't do the as I work during the day and driving back that night is going to be tiring of a drive back as I work that whole week through Saturday.

Guess i was mistaken as my hold was finally released yesterday. It took 7 days and i was like is this a full purchase or just a hold? Now i just wait until it ships and make sure the money is there on shipping day.

Yes, I have the MKWorld bundle preordered for launch, as long as it does not get cancelled by the retailer.

I am looking forward to it on the whole, despite the huge mess of communication about the console itself- particularly very excited for Mario Kart World, and also interested in a few other launch window titles too.

That said, I'm getting the strong feeling that the Switch 2 will be my last new gen video game console (both Nintendo-wise, and in general) and "retiring" from new systems/games altogether after it, though I'll still definitely be playing retro/legacy videogames from NES up through current/last gen. There's a lot of factors at play with that feeling. I already decided that the PS5 I got last year is my last Sony+Microsoft console, and though I enjoy my PS5, I honestly could have simply stuck with PS4. The only exception I'd make is if they make new mini consoles for N64, GameCube, Sega Saturn, and/or Dreamcast- but obviously those don't really count as "new consoles" in the vein of Switch 2, PS6, etc with brand new games/ecosystems.

I have the Mario Kart Bundle preorderd and paid for..... I lost seven stone of weight over a 8 months and have then managed to keep it off for over another year and this is the gift id promised myself for that.

Also have Rune Factory Guardians and the new DK preorderd and paid for.

My only "excuse" is my upcoming birthday in June and all in all I went a bit overboard.

Well done you! as already mentioned it's always good to reward yourself for reaching some goal you'd set, as for me it was staying off the ciggies, Switch 2 was my belated birthday present to myself for that.

an Yep you definitely need to treat yourself for reaching your goals, and if you can afford it a birthday is not a bad reason either.... heck as long as you can afford it I feel like it is a good enough reason, I just hope when ive used it as a reward it lives up to it.

Yes, a cruddy gamestop stand in line version, like the old school days as befitting my ancient disposition. Just the platform mario kart bundle, nothing else. I dont really care about MK, but I do care a lot about Metroid Prime 4 @ 120fps and backward compatibility GameCube and also of course all the things that haven't been announced yet that are guaranteed to come by virtue of being a new Nintendo platform.

I hope they make a new Zelda just as experimental as the Zeldas they make each generation, and don't get stuck on open world BotW/TotK style just because it is popular. Therein lies stagnation. Zelda and Mario and Metroid are the things that guarantee my presence.

Hah, yeah, my inbox has failed me today. I wonder how many people signed up on the first possible day versus how many Nintendo will sell from their website. Obviously signing up the first day wasn't fast enough 😝
