Has anybody been experiencing many game crashes on the Switch 2? I’ve heard a lot about system crashes (have experienced only one myself), but what about crashes on actual games. So far today I’ve had both Mario Kart World and Fortnite crash on me out of seemingly nowhere.

…as a side note, do you think things will stay this way for a while? I had a release model switch but I barely remember anything of the early days, but right now everything from the system to the games on my Switch 1 runs completely fine, do you think things like that will be fixed on the Switch 2 with system updates soon enough? I really do like these console and its capabilities but at the moment I’m a little annoyed at all the small little issues I’ve run into (and barely any user posts regarding those issues)

As no one here is there when it happens and there is no posting of what is happening no one reading is going to know what is going on here.

I haven't had any issues with my console yet that I know of, but I have seen people talk about how their systems are fine in sleep mode until they just outright turn off. My thinking is that there's something wrong with the console's fans or ability to keep cool- with it being worse in some consoles than it is others. One guy I know is saying that even in sleep mode when the system is charging, it still isn't cooling off. I'm wondering if it's overheating and crashing from overheating.

Seen numerous people online reporting various crashes in various states. No stability jokes for a little bit, I guess

No issues here. Someone posted another thread about freezing/crashing, and Nintendo support told them it was something related to their SD card. (I don't use an SD card, so...? I don't know)

No issues so far but I read on the internets that someone’s switch 2 turned into a chicken wing.

I've had 2 minor issues with my Switch 2 so far, first one was the internet running like a snail on 5G, but I switched to my 2.5g connection and it now runs fine, not sure if that was the console or my router problem. The second issue was when I first put a Switch 1 game (Mario 3D World) in to the S2 it didn't recognise the cartridge, and wouldn't recognise MKWorld cartridge either, so had to do a hard reset and then everything was working fine. Other than those minor things, which I'm not bothered about as I appreciate it's a new console and will have a few hiccups here and there that will get fixed with patches etc, apart from that I'm fully happy with my Switch 2, I love it.

Another thing I'd like to say is that I do wonder with all that space in the back of the dock, why Nintendo didn't install a quiet fan in there with vents to help cool the console down when docked, I think that would have been a good thing to have considering the console can get hot in certain modes. Shift the cable ports so they just come right out the back instead of laying horizontally coming out the side, I've always wondered why they were like that, doesn't make sense, have the cables come out the back and fill the empty void with a cooling fan.

@maxrpg
The Switch 2 dock does have a fan to cool itself.

Yes but it's very small, I'm just saying with the amount of space in the back of the dock they could have installed a better/bigger cooling system for when the console is docked.

No crashes here.

Portal 2 crashes on boot and Harvestella seems to only boot after the game card has been removed and put back in.

Sorry, I thought when you typed "Nintendo didn't install a quiet fan," you meant they didn't install a fan.

going around some of the reddit topics it does kind of feel like some of the people reporting crashes seem to be getting them quite frequently (at least if its ones across multiple games) which could mean that its those particular units or SD cards if that is the case while unfortunate for those that get it would still be preferable to if it was related to wider issues with the system itself.

at the very least im hoping its mainly localized issues (since those are a case by case basis) rather than the system itself being more prone to crashes. and if so hopefully at the very least its something that a good old stability update can fix rather than a deeper design flaw.

I've been playing multiple games on the Switch 2 since launch, and I've had exactly one crash, in No Man's Sky right after I downloaded the Switch 2 upgrade. But I suspect that had something to do with my cross-save being out of sync, since I've played NMS for several hours since then with no subsequent issues. And I've had no crashes with any other games.

I don't play online multiplayer games though, so I suspect a lot of these crashes (like the ones mentioned in the opening post) have to do with internet connectivity.

Looking at what people are saying, it seems the majority of the crashes deal with reading from SD cards and primarily with Switch 1 games being played on the system.

Feral Interactive about GRID Autosport: "The game will launch if the console is set to Airplane mode...Please note: Airplane mode will only function when in handheld mode...We hope this information is useful while we work on an update for the game with the help of Nintendo."

Edit: Tried it myself and it worked. After getting to the main menu I was able to do a quick race. After that I turned flight mode off, connected to the internet, docked the console and could race again. Loading times were far quicker than I remembered though it doesn't exactly feel snappy when it comes to the car selection screen due to the way it slowly fades one model out and fades in the next.
Most pleasant surprise for me was that the game treats the new wireless NSO Gamecube controller the same as a real one through an adapter, so you get the benefit of the analogue shoulder buttons.

Once Feral Interactive have helped identify where the crash is happening, it should probably be down to Nintendo to make sure the Switch 2 handles it properly with a system update, but if Feral are doing a patch anyway I'm greedily hoping they can sneak in another setting that combines the visual fidelity of 'graphics' mode with the 60 fps of 'performance' mode. Better yet, make that extra bit a paid upgrade because they'd deserve a few quid for going back to it after all this time.

I'm player (edit- 'playing') cyberpunk without an SD card and it's crashing within a minute of playing.... consistently now. It happened a few times this week - I restarted and played for a day or two. Now it doesn't matter, I've gone back to recent saves, deleted almost all my saves (saw a recommendation on reddit). I've deleted the game and redownloading it. Just about done with the hassle. Any advice is most welcome. I've done nothing else on there...signed up/in/DL cyberpunk and have been playing.
