@ElRoberico That too, can't remember if they did that on the original, but yeah, I never died that much against this bit. Even Gorgon was changed and made more difficult. Died to that like, I dunno, 5 times? WHY? >.<

Having to give the game a break before I end up breaking something instead, ugh...

@N00BiSH i will continue to attest that kevin is not trying to one-for-one copy all of charles' voices - the continued luigi and wario performances suggest as much to me - and somehow, despite caring less about voice acting than you do, i still notice a difference in mario's voice. really, he just needs to clean up the voice cracks and i think it's plenty good.

also, what haruki said.

remember; your chicken parm is not safe around me!

@Joeynator3000 I think they only do it on Bolse. I only did Fichina once.

@squiddu-real And I will continue to disagree. And after today you probably wouldn't be interested in my full thoughts anyways, so let's just stuff it and move on for now.

Yea, holy cow Venom 2 doesn’t pull any punches, and I also don’t remember it being this hard on the 64.

Charged shots basically do nothing, neither do bombs. You just need to hammer them quickly with regular laser attacks.

Once I figured that out it wasn’t too bad…. until there was just one left and I was playing chicken with him for like 10 minutes while my teammates did nothing.

Another tip: banked turns while breaking actually helps to position behind them more than trying to U turn.

I like that they put some difficulty in the game, but I don’t remember some of these stages being so tough back in the day lol

Played the first couple of missions. Such a nice looking game. I’ll dive in more this weekend.

@rallydefault Yeah simply shooting them works...if I could actually shoot them. -.-
I don't know why they did this when every other level was mostly the same, but then they randomly make Venom 2 and Gorgon a living nightmare. On normal difficulty, too...

@Joeynator3000 I've had the same mate. I was on a really nice 'hard route' run, got to venom 2 and wanted to throw my joycons out the window! I'll go back to it tonight and see what I can do.

Really enjoying the hour or so I've played so far. As far as VA goes I think they've done a pretty good job, it is a bit choppy but I can live with that. The cutscenes are great for some depth, although I wish it wasn't Peppy suggesting the easy routes every time. There's plenty of characters they could have come up with some differences. Maybe Falco trying to avoid Kat?

That's where I'm hung up on as well. Gorgon wasn't terrible but did take a few tries. I almost put my Switch 2 Pro Controller through my monitor on Venom 2. My skills are average, at best, I'll admit, but I'm not as bad as that stage is making it seem.

Yeah Venom 2 was a bitch. I'd always have Wolf left to shoot down and he'd keep getting behind me. Really enjoying the game though. Done two runs so far.

@BentIeyma
That was what happened to me, but I got him. Banking and hitting the brakes really did wonders, honestly.

What frustrated me more in that situation, honestly, was just seeing my AI teammates idle around in the middle of the map while Wolf and I kept looping around each other by the perimeter. That was pretty dumb.

Andross wasn't too bad, though, and the escape was a piece of cake - the 64 Andross corridors are child's play compared to the SNES corridors lol

@DanijoEX
Definitely remember the Megaman 8 one (and the X4 one with ) iirc werent they also considered bad for the time they released too, I guess it does show how far dubs have come for the most part and why it feels like modern ones which turn out mid-okay stand out more nowadays due to the near 30+ years of video game voice acting evolution their is to draw on.

In regards to the starfox VA i am also in the neutral camp, though maybe with a bit of bias due to how much those N64 lines are burned into my brain, theres some stuff i like but some stuff i preffered the more over-the-top delivery of the N64 one and in some cases like Andross i felt the lower audio quality did end up adding to it since he sounded so creepy on that.

that aside am loving the game, done a few runs and managed to visit all the planets, i havent played the original in a good while so i cant compare it but on its own the controls feel super smooth and responsive and the stable framerate makes everything feel like it has a nice "flow" to it, also even in handheld it feels like the screen is pretty easily readable, im not one who knows the numbers or anything but it seems like the image is sharp enough to make out objects in handheld (at least for me)

Graphically this game is really impressive. I know the character designs are divisive, but I like their more realistic look. I feel like Nintendo are finally catching up to the graphical fidelity that Sony achieved on the PS4 with their exclusives, which is fine by me because games like God of War and The Last of Us Part II still look insanely good. If The Ocarina of Time remake is a similar graphical fidelity as the Shadow of the Colossus remake then I'll be happy.

Does anybody else feel like the charge shot takes longer to charge? Especially after firing a previous one.

I don’t know. I just have so much muscle memory from playing 64 as a kid that I feel like this one is just a hair slower to be ready.

Joeynator3000

I'm just glad it's not my having this issue...the changes to Gorgon, fine...whatever, I guess, I dunno why they made his tentacles a pain to dodge now. But yeah Star Wolf in general is just, infuriating, charged shots don't work, shooting them works if I could actually hit the damn guys. Instead I'm constantly missing, or shooting down my own team because they keep getting in the freakin' way. Also they gang up on me way more often, even with my other teams still alive, like, wtf? Why is Andrew going after me too? Go after someone else you stupid monkey! >.<

@Joeynator3000 That's something that annoys me! My team are always flying straight into my line of sight and then moaning when I shoot them!

@rallydefault I've not really had an issue with it, but my only experience with the original game is the trial included in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

yeah when i heard the switch 2 would be somewhat in line with something like PS4 when it came to visuals i was happy since i feel ps4 games can still look really nice, it felt like a sweet spot where games both could look nice but also generally ran better than games from the early HD era, in a way it felt like what the ps2/gamecube/dreamcast era was to the PS1/N64/Saturn era.

as you mentioned things like art design can be subjective but on a technical level it feels really good.

PS:i like the little arwing you can move about during load screens.

I haven't played this new one yet, and it has been a long time since I've played 64, but didn't charge shots never work on that last battle with Star Wolf? I remember always having to try to line up behind them and shoot them normally, which was annoying.

Hey I dont know if this has been posted but Nintendo didn't fully explain how gameshare works in Star Fox (at least to my perspective) but they posted this just yesterday fully explaining it: https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a...
The local co-op throughout the main campaign was what kept me on the fence and now that I see that it is not included I guess I'm not getting the game until it drops a few bucks

SPLATOON RAIDERS WOOOOOOO

yokokazuo

@Xyphon22 yeah I believe they could always deflect them on 64, at least on Venom 2.
Had recently played through it last year myself.
