Topic: Primary or secondary console?

I've been playing a lot on Switch, and pretty much nothing on my PS5 ever since RE4. With Switch 2 being more powerful, I'm considering selling the PS5 and sticking to Switch 2 for my gaming needs.

Does anyone play Switch as their primary console and/or plans to play Switch 2 as their primary? Do you miss anything from other consoles like PS5?

There are still many games coming to Playstation, Xbox, and PC that won't run on or be ported to Switch 2.

Miracle ports will still exist, and those games would be best played somewhere other than Switch 2.

PS5 is my primary console, followed by my PS4 and Switch which also my primary consoles, but I still have more favor with PS5 than Switch for delivering smooth 60 fps and faster loading time.
PS3, PS2, 3DS, Wii, NDS are my secondary video game machines. I still play them but not as frequent as my primary machines.
Wii U, GameCube, PSP, PS1, GBA are my tertiary video game machines. I rarely played these games.
Btw, I only play kids games on every video games I have.

I have everything and switch is still my primary console (since Nintendo got 3rd party support my series x and PS5 libraries look anemic.) I simply play where I am most comfortable (controller) and already spend the most time. A game can be pretty as a picture but meaningless if you don’t actually play it.

The only reason I'm holding on to my XSX is to play through Lost Odyssey again.

Although I haven't touched the console since playing through Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077.

@Magician Assassin’s Creed has got me in a headlock right now (it’s sooo good) and I wanna play south of midnight. But otherwise I only turned on my xbox for coral island (switch version was canceled), and starfield (waiting till it is complete before I buy on PC) and Virtua fighter. PS5 is my bluray player (until ghost of yotei comes out). Which is why I am so excited for SF6 on Switch 2. Bought the game and a new arcade stick on series x but don’t play because I end up on switch more. So I play my fighting games there instead lol. Thats why I am hoping the other yakuza games get ported. VF is on 2, 5 and 6. Lol.

I have switch as main console, and xbox series x as 2nd. Also had ps5.
Im gonna buy switch 2 day 1, and sell XSX. Gonna have Switch 1 and 2 as main and only gaming platforms (except iPad/phone).

Dont see the point anymore having XSX or PS5 when 3rd Party games will be running good on switch 2.
Dont have time or desire to play 1xx different exclusive games on each plattforms, so it falls down to what plattform do i like the most when all factors are considered. Nintendo.

Series X is my main console mainly because that's the console I have the most games on. I have alot of my Xbox library on it from original Xbox, Xbox 360, and of course the One and Series X. I still go back and play alot of them. I also like Gamepass, which always me to try games that I normally wouldn't play without worrying that I spent $70 on a game I didn't like. Also and this is the big one alot of 3rd party games just run better on Series X then the Switch so I mainly just use my Switch for first party games.

I don't think I will be getting a Switch 2 at first mainly because for the price of it and how much use I will get out of it. I am not big on using it as a handheld so there's that too. As of now the only game I want is Mario Kart World.

PC for me.

Best prices on games from Steam and other competing storefronts, almost all new games that aren't Nintendo-published drop on there, countless "exclusives" that'll never go to a console, and Steam Deck OLED is probably the best portable gaming device I've ever owned: endlessly customizable, incredibly comfortable to hold, rivals the Switch 2 in power, and can play games off SSD or MicroSD.

@Ralizah You bring up a good point. For the price of a Switch 2 I could get a Steamdeck. Just wasn't sure how comfortable the Steamdeck is.

@Tasuki It's a tad hefty, but I really like how it feels in the hand. Much moreso than the very smooth joycons when holding a Switch.

If Nintendo games aren't a priority for you, then Valve's handheld is going to be a wildly better buy IMO.

Also, Steam has an actual refund policy, regular sales, and you aren't locked to one storefront for your games (any steam keys you redeem from resellers like Green Man Gaming, Fanatical, etc. will appear on your account and be playable on your device).

@Ralizah Yeah I never liked the feel of the Joycons on the Switch they just feel very delicate to me like I could easily snap them off, then of course there's Joycon drift. One reason I don't play it in handheld mode.

As for the Steam service, I am familiar with it as I do have an account and bought several games off of them. Them and GoG is where I buy most of my PC games from. So yeah love that refund policy. Definitely worth a consideration now.

I decided that the Switch would be my only gaming system.
I sold my entire Xbox collection (consoles and physical games) at the beginning of 2021, and it turned out to be a great decision.
Having just one system to dedicate my time and money to has been great for my lifestyle.
I'll be doing the same with the Switch 2.

The Switch has become my primary console because I just don't really enjoy AAA gaming anymore aside from a couple of exceptions here and there.

When I get my Switch 2, I'll probably selly Xbox Series S as the Gamepass model doesn't really work for me and I'll keep my PS5 for the biggest games that won't be on Switch 2 like GTA 6
