Has anyone tried this yet? It's probably gonna be the first game I play when I get my console later today, since NMS was one of my favourite ports on Switch 1, and I really want to see how much the Switch 2 upgrade improves it.

Here's hoping No Man's Sky gets a physical release for Switch 2.

Although NMS is constantly updated, so the physical release would never be the final build of the game.

But I would appreciate the speed boost of the Switch 2 cartridge over my Switch 1 copy.

I'm enjoying this a lot.

NMS was the first game I downloaded to my new S2 last night! I'm just really happy that the game received such a robust "Switch 2 Edition" upgrade on launch day!
Though I haven't had time to actually play anything on my new console yet.
I'm hoping to try out NMS and a selection of games on my Deuce this weekend.

Cross saves with Steam version are not working for me though. “This save is from a more recent version of NMS and cannot be loaded.”

Another issue for me is that it refuses to connect to matchmaking server due to error with creating web sockets or whatever. However it works with PC on the very same network/router.

If you loved the Switch 1 game you should be utterly amazed with the Switch 2 version. The Switch 1 version was really scaled back and graphically very weak. It got the job done and was a playable version but the Switch 2 version looks competitive with PS4 Pro and Xbox One X or maybe even Xbox Series S. The Switch 2 version looks like the full fat experience where as the Switch 1 didn't really.

I've been playing this a lot today, and I agree the Switch 2 version is an awesome improvement over the old version. Resolution, level of detail, draw distance, performance etc. have been upgraded drastically, moreso than with the Switch 2 editions of BotW and TotK –and the upgrade is completely free.

The Switch 2 version's graphics still don't look as detailed as they do on my gaming PC, but they're good enough that I won't ever need to boot the PC version again. Just for comparison's sake, here's a couple of screenshots from my gameplay in both versions to show how much the level of detail has improved between them:

Switch 2 version:

It's too bad the online multilayer seems to be suffering from some bug and doesn't work at the moment, but hopefully Hello Games will fix that soon.

Bought the game on switch 2 on launch day.
Feels great!
As mentioned, switch 2 will never reach pc/ps5/xsx level, but its so good that u wont think about the other versions.

Despite owning it on cart, a copy I got second hand, I decided with it being on sale for £16 I'd support the developer a little and purchase it.

A tip for easily confused people like myself: if you want to see the new Autophage settlements added in the Beacon Update, you'll have to progress in a regular settlement quest first. I was wondering how to find the Autophage townships, but after I'd finished constructing a commercial building in a regular settlement, I received an invitation from the Autophages to come meet them.

As shown in the promo videos, the size and complexity of these new kind of townships is magnified significantly compared to the older type of settlements. Considering the Switch 1 couldn't even handle the regular settlements, it's awesome to be able to see the huge new ones with such level of detail on a portable console.

Every time I dip a toe back into this game I get a bit of cosmophobia. Space is vast and infinite and NMS never fails to trigger me in that way. Hanging around in low orbit in my ship, looking around and seeing other celestial bodies, knowing I could land there.

Sometimes it's enough to stand completely still and just experience the day / night cycle. The low-fi and chill soundtrack a perfect backdrop to watching the stars roll by, as the neighboring planets slowly complete their orbital path around the star. Mesmerizing. Daunting.

Enjoying it a lot. The S2 version looks so much better. I unlocked the frame rate lock, it gives you frame rates that makes the S1 version pale in comparison. Some weathers on planets makes the frame rate dip but it's still reasonable.

For some reason all my photo shots (they're actually screenshots) are corrupted and I have no clue how to complete all those photo missions. Also my base in my freighter mostly doesn't load. Sometimes warping to different star system makes it load and sometimes not. It's an awkward problem that hopefully gets patched.

All in all, I've been pretty amazed with the S2 version. Generally, a great game that I will play a lot in the future.
