I was amazed to see this standout launch title hadn't been assigned its own thread yet. 😁 It would be interesting to hear how many of you intend to buy the game and whether you think it's worth its relatively low price.
Personally, I'm somewhat on the fence. I think it could be a fun title to play around with, if only for its unique, geeky gameplay, despite the now infamous controversary surrounding its release. Yes, it's a little shallow in terms of what it has to offer but the fact that it's now become the symbol for everything that's supposedly wrong with the new console is quite amusing to me.
I'll be intrigued to see if people's opinions change at all come release day.
Should have at least been free with NSO membership, I mean come on!
I try to be open minded about these things but this one really strikes me as pointlessly greedy. Still, I hope it at least has something worth playing inside... but I have as yet not seen any compelling gameplay from it, tbh. I guess the ufo dodge game looks like a browser game from 2005. Cool I guess?
@Quantumz00 To some extent I agree, but right now I'm more inclined to check it out, given the unique nature of the title making it pretty much designed for the Switch 2's launch. These console launches are a rare moment in time that most of us here are keen to be a part of and this game feels like a significant part of the Switch 2 launch experience.
The fact that they announced this specifically as a paid digital download, implying that they knew this wasn't the expectation for most of us watching, makes me almost think twice about supporting it.
However, I'd prefer to just enjoy it for what it is, knowing that a reasonable amount of work has gone into it. After all, Nintendo can usually be relied upon on to offer us polished experiences, which in turn should provide reasonable value, even when releasing smaller, more budget orientated titles such as this one.
People keep comparing this to the Wii Sports pack-in drama with Reggie back in the day, but like... this is nowhere near the content level of Wii Sports lol It's a fun story to hear again and again I suppose, but I think the games are in entirely different realms.
Heh when you put it that way it makes the package seem even scummier tbh but im listening lol.
That you connected it to their own attempts to demonstrate functionality in the past makes it seem even cheaper in my eyes. They've literally designed this game before, and honestly with a better art style! Yeah I think that solidifies the PASS camp for me.
Obviously Welcome Tour would make a great pack in. But it's not, and that's just what it is. No sense debating what's not going to change.
For $10 I'm definitely picking it up. Life is too short for activist statements that frankly won't change anything anyways. I look at it as, either the value I receive is worth a tenner or it's not. And I think it is. I'm interested in learning all about the system and trying out various mini-games and tech demos to check out the capabilities of the new system features.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
Zachariah 12:10 (500 yrs before Christ)
They will look on Me whom they pierced
My theory is it was developed as a free pack in. Somewhere along the line the console price was too expensive and they had to shave off some cost, so welcome tour became paid.
It feels like Clubhouse Games and Labo. Prob worth the £7

Undecided whether to get it. It's cheap, but it doesn't look especially exciting to me and there are plenty of other $10 games on my wishlist. Certainly if it were free I would play it, but not sure if I would play it for long.
I'm on the fence as well, but will probably pick it up, unless it averages poor reviews. If it is decent, has some fun things to do, it's worth $10 to me. I'm also curious about exploring the HD Rumble 2.0 capabilities - that alone has me intrigued.
Should it be free? Yes, obviously. But if it's going to be priced, I'd rather it be worth half than what's being offered. 5 bucks for a tech demo/manual is slightly more reasonable I'd say.
No I won't simply on principle, forget the money. I don't think Nintendo should be charging at all for a glorified tech demo, it should be bundled with every Switch 2 sold.
@1UP_MARIO
lol yes, 1-2 Switch is extremely bad. But crazy enough, I've gotten a lot of play time out of it. My daughter loves it. We still play it from time to time.
It should be changed to (un)welcome tour how we scalp you for owning something that is only for Switch 2 specifically. They are nickel and diming us when that would be free go along way for PR and getting people on the fence to buy Switch 2.
