Well, looks like Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope DX(NS1) won't be coming out anytime soon since Yacht Club puplicy stated, at least before the success of Mina the Hallower than they're financially on thin ice. Plus, RetroWare's Toxic Crusaders(NS1) release date is a complete mystery.
The only NS2 title that I'm hyped for, as well all are, is OOT Remake. Sure, The Duskbloods, Switch 2 sports Resort, Denshattack! & Splatoon Raiders are on the Wishlist, but my excitement for those is luke warm at best. Plus, NS1 is getting He-man & TMOTU: Dragon Pearl of Destruction & Rythem Heaven Groove pretty soon.
I'm above and beyond more hyped for Valve's Steam Frame, to play stuff like Subside Makoa Shelf, RE9 Requiem PCVR Mod and more, with my future 5070 PC than anything else right now. Oh, and of course Resident Evil Veronica in 2027...Which is also going to get a PCVR mod, which should be finished in about a month after the game releases with QOL's afterwards from Praydog & Talessman.
My Switch 2 just had a notification that MH Stories 3 DLC was downloaded and ready to play on release date so it looks like the Rudy side story has been moved forwards from Fall 2026 to June 2026.
Can I ask how you got this notification? I've had the Rudy side story DLC on my wishlist ever since it was announced, but I haven't receive any notification, and when I checked the DLC on Eshop yesterday, you couldn't yet preorder it, and it still had the placeholder release date of 31.12.2026.
@Polvasti I got the Deluxe edition so the Rudy side story DLC is effectively a preorder. As a result it follows the same rules as normal preorders where within a week prior to launch the console predownloads the content and then you get a notification that it'll be ready to play on release date.
So that's what makes me think the DLC is releasing by June 30th.
Another day passes, another very important reminder of the importance of physical media appears. This time it's Sony deleting more purchased movies from people's PS accounts.

Yes, but sadly not enough people care. And convenience always wins.
Speaking of physical versus digital...PlayStation just announced they will stop making new physical games in Jan 2028. Switch 2 may be the only physical haven soon.

Wow... that's actually pretty crazy. I thought they said they would still offer a detachable disc drive with the PS6?
@rallydefault Detachable disc drive with PS6 was just people's speculation, not an official announcement by Sony. The only official news we have about physical/digital for the future of PS is today's news, that after 2027 there's no more physical games.
seems the only way nintendo gets to save face during this era is everyone else progressively getting so much worse that nintendo looks really good in comparison

To be fair, the choice to use price variation this year is one of the most weirdly smart moves I've seen a game company make in a while, and their sales didn't have to collapse for them to make a good decision that people liked. (except Mario Tennis, RIP)

Yea, but honestly Nintendo hasn’t been doing anything that crazy. It was basically two big things that set off the internet firestorm a year ago: 80 bucks for MK World and GKCs.
GKCs even to a person like me are “meh” - I’m not buying them, but that sort of thing was happening on the Switch sort of often already. I’m sticking to my stance on not buying those, but I’m not losing my mind over them and it seems to have mostly died down.
And we keep getting these big full physical announcements (Oblivion, Tomb Raider)… and some smaller games are getting physicals which makes me think cartridge sizes are getting more flexible…it’s kind of good right now?
yeah, it's not to say nintendo hasn't done anything good recently, in most cases the variable pricing has favored us and they seem to have the right idea of how to weather the storm of price increases.
meanwhile, western companies continue to not comprehend measures beyond "up price by 200 dollars lest our profit margins explode".
that being said, some of the biggest help nintendo has gotten in my eyes is what i just mentioned. everyone else keeps sucking so hard it makes nintendo look way better than it is

Yea. And it’s still a little weird to me that places like Amazon and Walmart keep offering new physical games for the digital price, too. I’ve already saved the equivalent of a full-price release that way.

Surely Nintendo doesn’t want them doing that?
Nintendo gets the same amount of money either way so I don't know if they necessarily care if stores decide to lower their own profit margins.
Why stores are doing it is an interesting question; maybe they are worried people would transition completely to digital and order from Nintendo rather than buying from stores.
If anyone is looking to get into the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy before Revelation releases next spring, now is the time as Remake Intergrade is on sale for $13.99, while Rebirth is $29.99.
