Topic: Nintendo Switch 2

Looking through Dekudeals I have just seen Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition shadow dropped today for both Switches and for just about 16,37 € (10% off). Wtaf!?

@gcunit I get it - and the new JoyCons are much better. I was playing Cyberpunk, and diving/swimming underwater - and you could feel the air bubbles around you...it was really cool. I stopped and took the time to pay attention to what they were doing with the rumble (which I rarely ever do). The internal memory will get you by for a bit - it's just that some games are 60-80 gigs, which fills the card up fast. I retired my OLED (gave it to my daughter) so I need to play my SW1 games on the SW2...and there is definitely an added perk with performance increases. Regardless, excited for you and looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts.

@jfp never played it, always had it on my radar. I've been burned by pre-ordering Aspyr games in the past, so I'm going to wait for reviews before I jump in.
But, it's a very cool announcement!

@jfp I'll wait a few days so I can get the extra 20% off for owning the 1-3 and 4-6 remasters (the discount window starts November 21st in Europe) but this is a very cool announcement. Hopefully Rise, Shadow, Legend, Anniversary and Underworld follow in the near future.

Tomb Raider reboot just shadowdropped on Switch AND Switch 2, for $15.99!!!

This was my first PS4 game I picked up along with the system, and I played it all day and night until I beat it. It's one of my favorites! I've been wanting this on Switch for YEARS.

$15.99, you can't not pick this game up for that price on a hybrid system.

@Lazz @Grumblevolcano @JaxonH As I never played it, always wanted to and have never been burned by Aspyr (have none of their games) I immediately jumped on it. It‘s downloading right now … let‘s hope they did a good enough job!

I remember playing this on PS4 thinking wow, the graphics are amazing! But it's not that different than PS3 (it released on Xbox 360 and PS3, after all). Now I see it and it looks a bit dated compared to other NSW2 games. I guess that speaks volumes about how good NSW2 games look compared to PS4 when it launched.

Yes. It's fantastic.

It does seem based on the NSW1 version (which is likely based on the PS3/360 version) but, it benefits with 60fps (which as I recall, the PS4 release was 30fps). But Idk, maybe it is the PS4 version? Some of the textures look really nice. Could be a hybrid.

But it's definitely higher resolution and like I said, it's 60fps. It has gyro aiming (my DREAM for this game, come true!), mouse aiming with Joycon 2, touchscreen support, and HD Rumble 2.

Ya, it's legit.

It seems gyro aiming isn't working. Gotta be a bug. Mouse aiming works, but you need to turn down mouse sensitivity AND mouse aiming sensitivity from 5 all the way to 1. Holding ZR aims while R shoots. Release ZR without pressing R to not shoot.

But ya, sucks gyro isnt working, for whatever reason. But at least mouse is. I'm sure they'll patch it. How that made it through QA though is astonishing.

@Lazz @JaxonH I can only agree, although I can‘t compare it to other versions visually, it really does run extremely well. No hiccups or stutters so far (about 45 minutes in). Beyond anything of what’s possible on Switch 1.

Just played TR:DE a few years back and its a banger. I wont be buying it since I already own it on Xbox, but definitely grab it if you haven't played it yet.

Do the remastered trilogies for Tomb Raider play well? I've been really on the fence about them since I LOVED the reboot trilogy. I don't really trust Aspyr anymore after the KOTOR II fiasco.

Cannot agree more. I have it on Xbox 360, PC, PS4 and Series X so I wont be getting it on Switch. But yeah if you never played it or just want it on the go and dont have a Steam Deck definitely a must buy.

Ahhh, you know what? I remember PS having gyroscope but only for rotating 3D artifacts and leaning when sliding, that kinda stuff. Can't confirm yet, but I suspect that's why gyroscope is in the menu but gyro aiming isn't working.

Disappointing. Still, mouse aiming is fantastic. I'm using split joycon with the 8"x10" firm mousepad in my lap, and the mouse attachment on the right joycon. Any time I'm about to aim my bow, I just place the joycon on the mousepad and shoot my arrows. Just got stuck in a bear trap and had some wolves attack one after another, requiring me to aim the bow and shoot while stuck in one place. The mouse precision made quick work of those canines.

It does disable HD Rumble and Gyroscope when Mouse is enabled and in use, but that's not an issue. As for aiming, most shooting is from stealth anyways and you have plenty of time to aim correctly. Plus shooting isn't a super core mechanic. Most of the time you're not shooting so.

Yup. Gyroscope works for rotating artifacts. But it only disables when the mouse is on a pad.

My Switch 2 isn't due to arrive until tomorrow - a bit of a bummer 'cos the retailer gave me cause to expect next day delivery i.e., today. Each time a courier came up my road today I got all excited, only to be repeatedly disappointed. Nevermind.

But what I need to establish is, how essential is system transfer? I don't want to wipe my Switch, I just want to add my existing accounts to my new Switch 2 - am I missing out if I don't do a transfer? I didn't do one when I upgraded my Switch years ago, and the only negative seemed to be that my activity log got borked.

I also need to work out what happens if I play Animal Crossing: New Horizons on my Switch 2, using the same account I've been using on Switch for 5 years. I assume my existing island isn't gonna transfer unless I do the specific transfer process, so will it just let me start a new island?
