@kkslider5552000 BDSP I can completely agree on, SV I personally still found fun (I didn't finish the DLCs though unfortunately), but I think ZA blew SV's fun out of the water haha.
Like just, everything. From story to characters and their designs to just what you do (I love going around Lumiose and then found myself distracted by ladders and going across rooftops), and all the side quests are pretty fun!
Overall while the old games are pretty fun too, I think I still love what they are doing with the new games. They keep moving forward and changing lol, like even the past 3 new mainline games I think they still try things up (SwSh, PLA and Scarvio, and now ZA are all pretty different experience)
So there were some people pushing this "this is all just early adopters who will buy anything Nintendo puts out" bit whenever someone pointed out how good the sales are. As if somehow once we hit Wii U numbers the sales will stop dead in their tracks or something. Was obviously nonsense..... but now we have a graphic from Nintendo to show how much nonsense it really is
I think it's fair to say, that's a fairly even spread of users for a brand new system. If we want to talk about actual system sales and market performance? This is the data you're looking for. Not personal feelings on what arbitrary categories particular releases fit into
An interesting corrolary of that infographic is that only around 2 million of the 15 million people who bought Switch 1 in 2017 have bought Switch 2 so far. Do early adopters tend to stay early adopters a generation later?
Granted, only 5 million people had bought Switch 1 in the first 4 months (the current reporting for Switch 2 is June- sep so 4 months). Let's call those super early adopters. I'm guessing a decent chunk of those 2017 buyers who are super early Switch 2 adopters were within that 5 million super early Switch 1 adopter pool. I know I was and likely a lot of people on this site.
@FishyS
I think it's fair to say 2017 Switch owners are relatively over-represented amongst Switch 2 owners. The fact that it's not even more skewed to that userbase would be due to several things I'd say. People moving out of the hobby, people waiting for specific titles, people who are still happy with the Switch, people who got them as gifts, people waiting for Christmas bonuses etc, etc
But yeah, I would say this is a relatively even spread given early sales would generally select for enthusiasts and early adopters. It's not just the hyper-fans getting it
The interesting part to me is 1 in 6 NSW2 owners never bought a NSW1... at all.
I wonder if that is survey data or data from Nintendo accounts. We know some people made new accounts when they bought Switch 2 even if they had already played Switch 1 - probably including many people who were young children on Switch 1 and playing under their parents accounts but can now have their own real not-child-locked account for Switch 2. Depending on how Nintendo is accounting, they might be under rhe 'new' category.
@FishyS
Perhaps that explains some. Another thing is Capcom supposedly reported many PS4 gamers have bought NSW2 in Japan instead of a PS5. Don't know the extent of that but it could also explain at least some new users.
I think 16% is pretty good for new users in the first 4 months. I'd have expected 5-10% at most.

A fair amount of people who have perhaps not gamed since they were young or who have never gamed ever see the launch of a new console as a good opportunity to hop into the gaming scene. This is especially so for the successor to a console as prevalent in the pop culture consciousness as the Switch.
"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"
@Rodolfo6493
Yeah, I got a Wii near its launch despite having never owned an N64 or GC. And while it wasn't the DS at launch I waited for the day of the DS Lite launch to get my DS when my main gaming console at the time was a GBC
Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment is incredible. The HD Rumble is particularly high quality, the graphics are nice and crisp, the framerate is rock solid 60fps, the story is interesting, and the gameplay is better than Age of Calamity and even Fire Emblem Warriors. Third time's a charm, as they say.
I always had a niggling issue with prior HW games. In Age of Calamity I hated how it took a second to start running. Whereas in this game, pressing dash immediately bursts you into a run. Maybe that was true in AoC but if so I wasn't aware. I love the special moves to counter boss danger moves too. One to counter air attacks, one for ground attacks. It has gyro aiming when applicable as well. Can assign zonai devices to your ABXY special slots too.
This game has it all.

In Calamity there was a moment of hesitation after you hit the dash button before the character would go fully into the run animation. It always bugged me a little, too - felt kind of weird.
And yea, this is exactly the type of game where nice graphics and smooth frame rate go a looooong way toward helping the enjoyment.
if Dragon Quest 8 HD Remasterd/Remake was made and released for the Nintendo Switch 1 or at least switch 2, would you still buy the game even if you didnt have a Switch 2?
