@Mgalens I'm really pleased that Durante is working on switch 2 games, he even included DLSS, which wasn't in the Japanese release,
Hopefully, he will update previous nis america games to run better on switch 2, I hope he gets hired to port Cold steel 1 and 2 to switch 2 as well.
@metaphysician I was just thinking how interesting the lore is at the end on sky 1st chapter and if Falcom continues the series, they could work backwards, so why not make games based in ancient Zemuria, or medieval Zemuria, for example their cultures are often shown in ruins but little is known about them.
@JaxonH I'm really hyped for kyoto xanadu as a fan of japanese school themed games its my GOTY of 26, I really enjoyed the first game and I liked the gameplay of nayuta but found that game quite bare as it was a spin off.
I prefer persona 3 reload than tokyo xanadu but I would go as far as saying that game is better than p4 but not as good as p5 or 3.
I think its a simple case of being both easy and popular. They want in at the front door on the platform that is going to sell best, and since the Switch 2 isn't the kind of horsepower jump that would require entire new engines and assets, its something they can do.
I was having a chat with a fan on reddit and he told me that he asked xseed about Cold steel 1&2 for switch and why there is no English version this is xseed's response:
@xenobladexfan those are the ports made by CLE right? iirc didnt they also make the original ports of Zero/Azure for switch before the western ones by PH3.
Does feel like the best bet at this point is if either falcom develop their own in-house switch 2 versions of CS 1-2 or if something like Zero/Azure happens where they get ports by a different third party in the west.
On the subject of falcom i forgot before this week that proud nordics was out so soon which feels like good timing since im just nearing the last few hours or so of DQVII reimainged.
am also still curious what that switch 2 port falcom mentioned a while back was, whether its one of their psp-onward games (like Ys Seven onward), a "switch 2 edition" of a game on switch, or something out of left field like Zwei or ark of napishtim (i forgot if they specifically mentioned switch 2 which could make it the second option, since i imagine if it was Ys Seven or the like it would also be launched on switch 1)

Um, just to check. . . is Sky 1 the only game in the series you've played? Because the series has done a looot of exploration of pre-modern civilizations across its length. You certainly could set a game in an earlier era, in theory. . . but I suspect by the time the series closes? Most of the interesting past history will have been mined.
Ys X: Proud Nordics reviewing well on Switch 2, confirmed to use DLSS with 60 fps for Graphics Mode and 120 fps for Performance, with total file size under 10 GB.
This is how you do a Switch 2 release.
Psalms 22:16 (1,000 yrs before Christ)
They pierced My hands and feet
Isaiah 53:5 (700 yrs before Christ)
He was pierced for our transgressions
@Mgalens yeah those games were CLE https://www.gematsu.com/2021/02/the-legend-of-heroes-zero-no-...
The problem is, the English version of the game is owned by xseed but the switch port is owned by CLE, the only ways those games could come over is if falcom themselves did the port and xeed used their old translation.
I hope ys 7 comes to switch 2 because that game is amazing.
@metaphysician I have played all trails games available on Nintendo hardware, the games I haven't played are cold steel 1&2 + trails sky 2nd&3rd .
@JaxonH it seems Nintendo may have helped falcom to improve their games:
I remember on switch 1 falcom games were inferior to other platforms such as daybreak ii, its good those days are over now.
@xenobladexfan
i ended up playing sky 1 and 2 on psp (3rd never came to psp in west) and sky 2 is definitely among my faves, the remake is gonna be something special thats for sure!
did play cold steel 1 and 2 on vita and really enjoyed them, it didnt feel like i missed out too much in the plot by not playing zero/azure outside of one segment in CS2 that naturally i wont spoil, CS3 and 4 on the other hand definitely felt like they relied on you playing zero/azure more.
am looking forward to proud nordics and also Celceta, i definitely have good memories of playing that one on vita also, if you didnt play it on anything then its a lot like Ys seven, pretty much same gameplay style with a big world to explore with multiple towns, though the world itself feels a lot bigger than Ys seven, was also the first one to do the rewards based on map completion like VIII etc did only it did feel a bit more finicky, since it didnt give you a % based on area so it could make it harder to find that last %, still a lot of fun and i loved the setting.
