@Grumblevolcano Ehh by this logic that would mean things like the original Wii Sports would have to be on Switch. Or something like Brain Training.

Most likely we probably aren't getting a general direct in January. If we get anything, it'll probably be a showcase for Switch 2.

@Grumblevolcano I really hope that your logic works out, it would make sense. Not convinced Nintendo thinks this way, based on how 2024 has gone, but I like it. If WW was enhanced for Switch 2, that would be incredible.

@VoidofLight I think from a gameplay perspective, Nintendo sees Switch Sports as a replacement to Wii Sports. Similar thing with Brain Training except for some reason the Switch Brain Training game didn't release in America.

@Grumblevolcano Ahh. Even then I don't think them putting a game on the music app necessarily means they're going to be bringing that game to Switch.

I just wish they had a Nintendo Music app that you can install on PC. Want to listen to music through it, but I'm not always on my phone- and rarely use my phone when I'm at home.

@Novamii I wonder if the music app will be built in to the OS / available by default on the new console?

On the one hand, why wouldn't they put the music app on the new system? On the other hand, they did something similar with the Pokemon app and then removed it.

@Novamii You could do it to some degree on Xbox 360 like ripping CDs to the hard drive or plugging in your MP3 player/Zune/iPod into the USB slot, not sure about streaming. But I know for sure that Groove Music streaming in the background was a thing on XB1.

@Novamii I mean the 3DS could handle playing music, I don't see why the Switch successor couldn't. It's a matter of will they, not can they.

I'm trying to think whether there was an upcoming lineup list presented at an earnings report as quiet or quieter than February will look if there's no announcements in January:

  • March 20th 2025 - XCX Definitive Edition
  • 2025 - Metroid Prime 4
  • 2025 - Pokemon Legends Z-A

Closest I can think of is the one in May 2023 (TotK, Pikmin 4, Prime 4, Pokemon DLC, Mario Kart DLC) but with that situation the gigantic game (TotK) was mere days away from launch.

We only got 1 general Direct last year, which is shockingly low since we usually get 2-3.

Now that it's 2025, when will the first Direct of the year be? We could get a Mar10 Day presentation and/or Pokemon Day Presents. Switch 2 should get a presentation before April (as it's been confirmed that we're hearing more before the end of March). It's even possible we get a Switch 1 general Direct soon, February is still empty for Nintendo and we still don't know anything past March besides Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A.

@PikminMarioKirby Still betting on a Fevruary Direct. Not sure what it'll be, (maybe for crossgen stuff?) but I am positive it'll happen.

@CaleBoi25 I hope we get one in February (or even better if it was January!) as well. Not sure where this fits in with other likely presentations around the same time, but with how few upcoming Switch games there are, it feels very likely for there to be one.

January Switch 2 reveal and February general direct seems logical.. not that Nintendo has been very predictable lately.

@Dev1024 I was just about to say this. I can totally see Nintendo doing a Switch 1 only Direct in February, even if it's after Switch 2 is revealed

@FishyS @Dev1024 I think it depends on what kind of Direct it would be. If it would focus on Switch 1 titles I think it'd be before a Switch 2 reveal, but if it was a Switch 2 dedicated Direct I think it would be after the initial reveal.

I think it's very possible we could get some as soon as next week, but I guess we'll have to see.

@Dev1024 If that's what Nintendo's plan will be, they better have a Switch 2 announcement trailer right on my birthday... OR ELSE! Lol I'm just teasing, but it would be cool if they do.

Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I'd like to know you first. Thanks! ❤️

@Dev1024 Or perhaps a Direct centered on S1, but letting us know "don't worry, this game will feature X Y and Z improvements on S2"

@PikminMarioKirby I agree, Nintendo doing a massive Mario focus prior to the SMB 40th anniversary celebrations gives the impression that they don't want there to be a crossgen period on Switch 2 and hence they'd do a Switch 1 general Direct prior to the Switch 2 reveal.

Really hope my idea of a January Switch 1 general Direct happens as it's the best chance of another Tomb Raider 4-6 Remastered trailer prior to launch.

@Grumblevolcano SMB 40th is very interesting. For the 35th in 2020, it was thought to have been planned for summer direct (or e3) instead of September like it ended up being. It’s hard to tell when it’ll happen this year, but it seems like Nintendo cares about Mar10 day more now so perhaps it could be on that day. They could even put that stuff in a February/January Direct as well.
