Bummer indeed. We still manage to have a lot of fun with the game, so it's not a deal-breaker. However, it's one of those things that seem just obvious to do, which Nintendo often chooses to not go for. Reasoning is beyond me, but we'll have to live with it I guess.
I won an online Knockout Tour rally with Oasis Daisy on Carpet Flyer in the Cherry Rally last night. It was the final part of Desert Hills. I used a mushroom to get through one of the rough patches of sand and threw my three green shells at the person in first, who was a considerable distance away, and I got them!
I came out on top at the very end. It was amazing!
@Dev-N, you won with green shells? Talk about lucky! I don't know if that has ever happened to me before, maybe with red shells. Also about you playing online, I've played online Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for 8-10-ish hours (I've spent a lot more time on offline) and I've got first place in, like, four races 😦... point is, I suck at online racing and still love it, except when my points number goes down. That kinda sucks. Congrats on the win!
Shortcat posted a video a couple hours ago about fans "fixing" MKW worldwides. Actually, the Mario Kart World Discord has a channel where people can set up rooms for anyone to join. This allows you to vote for any track you like, without being forced to play 80% intermissions. More than 600 people have joined the server since this video was posted, and I saw many rooms running at once.
I accidentally unfollowed this Thread lol, but I am curious, how much time are yall spending in Free Roam? I want to complain that it is empty and there is nothing to do... But at least 85% of my playtime has been spent there, so clearly it has something to offer haha! I am havhng a blast just getting Peach Medallions!

Yep, it is empty and there is nothing to do, but here I am with 212 finished P-Switch challenges. Free Roam is the only mode I am playing now. Not worth the money, but I am having fun.
@CaleBoi25 Not that much, but now that I've done everything else in single-player, I'm finally spending more time in it.
I started in the Forest Region with Acorn Heights, Mario Circuit and Boo Cinema, and after collecting everything there, I'm in the Snow Region now. I plan on pouring through the continent mainly clockwise, ending with Peach Stadium and the bay where Rainbow Road appears.
1. Forest Region (Acorn Heights, Mario Circuit & Boo Cinema)
2. Snow Region (DK Pass, Starview Peak & Sky-High Sundae)
3. Dandelion Depths
4. Cheep Cheep Falls
5. East Coast (Wario Shipyard, Salty Salty Speedway & Peach Beach)
6. Faraway Oasis
7. Jungle Region (Great ? Block Ruins & Dino Dino Jungle)
8. Koopa Troopa Beach
9. DK Spaceport
10. Crown City
11. Wild West Desert (Mario Bros. Circuit, Whistlestop Summit & Wario Stadium)
12. Desert (Desert Hills & Shy Guy Bazaar)
13. Dark Lands (Airship Fortress, Dry Bones Burnout & Bowser’s Castle)
14. Central Plains (Toad’s Factory, Choco Mountain & Moo Moo Meadows)
15. Peach Stadium
16. Rainbow Road Bay (I'm just making up unofficial names for regions and areas for navigation purposes.)
Obviously, I need online guides to do this, and with one site I've been keeping pins on the map for what I've collected. This will take quite a while, but I'm having a decent time.
I’m almost at 200 switches. I actually really like the free roam, it’s super relaxing and some of the missions are genuinely neat.
Anyway, anybody have any tips for getting fishbones? He’s the only character I still need to unlock, and I keep running the route between burnout and toads factory, but nobody is getting a kamek to transform us. Argh
@rallydefault 200 switches is impressive wow!!!! i need to spend more time in free roam. i think the game maybe unlocks the characters slowly no matter how many times you race so that you spend more time on the game? i got fishbone, but i can NOT get tocky wrench somehow. its lwk a frustrating system, i wouldve prefered them to be unlockables in free roam but thats ok!!!
BRING NINJI INTO MARIO KART WORLD RIGHT NOW.
five favorite games of all time:
1. minecraft
2. splatoon 3
3. earthbound
4. xenoblade chronicles 3
5. zelda tears of the kingdom
@Dev-N@Jhena Interesting that you guys are tracking your progress! Personally, while I will eventually 100% MKWorld, for the time being I have been using Free Roam for just that: Roaming around all over and doing whatever I feel like!

@CaleBoi25, if I got a Switch 2 and Mario Kart World, that is what I'd be doing with Free Roam a lot, because I don't know if I'd bother with many of the P-Switch missions. Time limit missions always stress me out in games. Just driving around without a care in the world (or needing to pay expensive gas prices) does sound like a heck of a lot of fun though! 😃
I wonder if there's a correlation between people who enjoy Animal Crossing and people who enjoy this mode.
And vice versa: I would assume the 'thrill-seekers' of the Mario Kart community might not enjoy this mode as much.
I've only done a few dozen P-Switches and am really enjoying their range in difficulty and objectives. The way I've been tackling is doing one track's "area" at a time (pretty much in the order they appear in the Grand Prix), I'm not trying to get everything on my first visit, otherwise I'll feel like I'm stuck in a single place forever.
So I'll do a bit, move on, do a bit, move on etc. and then I'll eventually go over it again a bit like painting a wall.
296 P-Switches done. This is it, the final stretch, less than 100 remaining. Today I was abducting cows and one Toad with a UFO. I love wild surprises.
I'm almost finished Cyberpunk, so I'll be back to more P Switches soon. I think I'll get them all by the end of the year just going popping in from time to time.
@rallydefault
Thanks! Yeah, take all the time you need. The reason why I am hurrying is, because I want to be done with World, when Bananza is released. Well hurrying might be an exaggeration, since I am just playing around two, instead of one hour a day.
@ShieldHero
Yep, they are short, and I would say ,that most of them are easy and many can be finished on the first try.
