Topic: Mina the Hollower

Wanted to start a new thread centered around this game, since nobody has done so up until now. Here's the recent trailer from Yacht Club Games...

I downloaded the demo on the Switch 2, and I liked it. It reminds me a lot of Link's Awakening judging by how it plays, and the music is great. It is pretty hard too, lol! Not too surprised since it is from the same studio that made Shovel Knight. I had four deaths by the time I finished my playthrough, so I struggled a bit. The game comes out on May 29th, 2026, and it'll be for both the Switch and Switch 2.

How did i miss there was a demo? Its my most anticipated indie of the year, so im kind of hesitant to play the demo knowing I can't finish it.

I played the demo earlier this summer on steam and had a great time with it despite how short it was. I'll probably get the game as a birthday present for myself when it comes out.

It looks pretty good, will download the demo and give it a bash.

Finally played the demo. I loved the gameplay and it’s a nice surprise that it’s completely localized in Brazilian Portuguese! I’m not sold on the art style, though. The fonts in particular are annoying to read. I understand what they’re going for, but for me it’s a similar case to Yooka-Laylee where they’re recreating the flaws instead of modernizing how it felt.

Demo was fun, though I don't think it will be as good as Shovel knight. Shovel knight blew me away more.

It looks great and I was also thinking in purchasing it as a present for myself in Halloween. Demo was short, but does anybody know how long the game is? If it is so hard, it may be quite long but I would like to know if that data has been published anywhere.

Shovel Knight and Hollow Knight. Two of the biggest indies of all time.

And both are getting follow ups all these years later basically a month apart. Wow.

At least for Yooka-Replaylee they seem to be fixing virtually every single issue with the game. Its like if Yooka-Laylee released and was the game we had all hoped for. So thats cool!

Music to my ears. I’m playing Elementallis which will be the perfect warmup before Mina. I’m pleasantly surprised by the $20 price tag.

I’ve never played the Shovel Knight games but I love the 8-bit style and Mina speaks to me. It reminds me of a good ol’ Gameboy Colour or Gameboy Advance action adventure game. Like A Link to the Past or Oracle of Seasons/ Ages.

I have 007 next in my queue (PC) but I will be buying this and playing on Switch 2.

@AdmiralBribery I played the limited-time demo back when it was still available, and it was a lot of fun! That was actually what led to me playing Shovel Knight while I waited for Mina to release, lol

I played the demo too! I found it enjoyable but I didn't finish it.

It felt like a substantial demo and I got a good feel for the game within 10-15mns. So in attempt to not spoil my self, I stopped and deleted it The game appears to have gone through a lot of polishing since then.

I am curious what the general consensus is from my preferred reviewers, youtubers etc. I will wait a little bit, let the hype die down for 007 but unless Mina lands below 80 on Meta/Opencritic, I'll be buying this.
