We all know the current Switch 2 price for US, UK and Japan until further notice, but I was wondering how is Nintendo’s pricing for other regions and countries.
Currently in Brazil, Switch 2 has no price, but Nintendo has already shared it want to release in the same date and Doug Bowser said that tariffs shouldn’t cause much impact for our regional price. Meanwhile, Switch games are selling for R$ 350,00 since past month (~$62.00).
If the Switch 2 is launched here for R$ 3,999, and the bundle for R$ 4,499, it wouldn't be bad in my opinion (taking into account everything that's happening).
Regarding games, I think DK Bananza should cost R$399 (TOTK price), and Mario Kart World for R$ 449.
Right, so assuming US$1 = R$6 by the time the Switch 2 releases, it would be R$2.700 without taxes... but if we include the cheapest price for a plane ticket to go the USA and return (with current taxes), it would cost an extra R$1.714, or R$4.414 in total.
Up here, it's $630 for the console on its' own and $700 for the console plus Mario Kart World

630$ for the switch 2 in Canada unbelievable and disappointing. My gut feeling is this console isn't going to do well here, not to mention 120$ for a game...
It's because of the Tariff and falling yen or other country monetary value is less then yen that causing prices to fluctuate as well. So there are more then one factors for this but the "Tariffs" wars didn't help. I suspect Mexico is getting their consoles from China and that could be why prices are as they are.
@RenanHJ I think your viewpoints won't pan out as people are looking for something new and will figure out a way to get Switch 2 as alot of people are down playing Switch 2 importance will not be doom/gloom for Switch 2 sales world wide.
Problem here is people keep forgetting the global economy currency values rise or fall and some have more value then others. And like myself and other Tariff just doesn't help to make it more plateable to swallow the prices.
@Jester676 Don't get me wrong, Switch 2 will be successful worldwide, but in my country with these prices I'm not so sure. The videogame itself is expensive but that's a one-time purchase that can be split in multiple monthly payments. The games are insanely expensive. They used to cost R$249.99, then were recently raised to R$349.99, now they jumped to R$499.99.
Average wage in my region is R$2,000.00. Those with gaming as a hobby usually have a higher income, but even then R$499.99 is A LOT for a single game. To give you some perspective:
Full meal in a fancy restaurant for 2 adults: R$200.00-400.00
Weekly groceries for a family of 3: R$300.00-R$500.00
Complete formal clothes: R$999.00-R$1999.00
It's likely that Nintendo fans will buy less but still buy the console and its games somehow. But families at large that could buy Switch 2 for their kids will just skip it until the game prices are reduced.
@Eel I see. I usually don't get consoles on release since the GBA days so I wouldn't know, but even if it's what usually happens I think 1.5 it's too much. I was on board with the console being $12,000 but now it might be above my budget. Even if I can I'm also considering if I feel comfortable enough with such a difference.
Aside from that, I'm really positive about the Switch 2 and it's games in general though. I do see the value in this console and it was pretty close specs wise from what I speculated some time ago in one of these threads.
I really hope that you have no trouble getting one on release if you plan to!
@roy130390 as you say, it’ll probably get cheaper gradually. (Unless you go to a place like Coppel where prices stay MSRP-high until the end of times).
So it’s just a matter of waiting a bit. I don’t think I’ll be getting it day one, or even month one.
@RenanKJ Only time will tell how it will fare with the new price of Switch 2. But considering world wide preorder have been selling out that would say otherwise about the Switch 2 preorders. Even in less well off countries the sales will continue do well. It's the long term will in 8 years Switch 2 reach Switch 1 volumes. I think it will hit the 100 mil mark and it could be bigger but only tariffs could be the limiting factor long term. Not saying well off less won't see more sales but people will come to realize Switch 2 will decrease in price it might go higher because of Tariffs and those on fence will have to decide as well.
@roy130390@Eel About Mexican Prices of games. Didn't we pay 1,700 pesos for games such as Paper Mario: The Origami King and New Pokémon Snap at launch, then they stabilized at 1,400?
I remember those two first-party games in particular costing that much.
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball is now a hidden gem of the Nintendo 3DS.
