So, I recently downloaded FF7 Remake on my Switch 2, and as we all know, it has an ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE file size - 90 gigabytes(!) My Switch 2 now has like two gb left in its internal storage. So, I've been looking into a MicroSD card. On a $180-200 NZD* price range, should I get a 512gb or a 1tb card? Thanks for any replies!

Hello. This is Toriel. For no particular reason... Which do you prefer? Butterscotch or Cinnamon? - Toriel
@MoldyPasta for that price range the only card you'll be able to find is a 512. It's what I have, and is big enough for now. I still need to offload games, but I can hold FF7 plus many more. If I want to hold every game in my library, I'll need a 2TB+ card, but it's big enough to hold anything that I am currently playing. With the price of the 1TB cards, I'll likely be sticking to the 512's for a while, and am fine having them in rotation.
And make sure that you pick up a Micro SD EXPRESS card...be careful when ordering online, as some cards will try to trick you. It has to be an express card...if you see a 1TB card for your price range, it is likely not going to work. If it does work, share the link, because the lowest I've seen is $200+ which is way more than I'm willing to spend (USD).
In my case, it's the same. I was lucky enough to snag a cheap 512GB SD Express card, and I'm doing fine so far, although with everything I've bought, I'm already down to 150GB free, which I'll save for Requiem.
Even so, I consider it a huge mistake to have everything you buy downloaded. I made the same mistake on Steam and realized it's more practical to have your own little garden, and if you want to eat something, you just pick it (I hope you understand the analogy).
@MoldyPasta I got a 512GB Express card for $100 USD - google says that converts to $166 NZD. I really wanted a 1tb card, but couldn't justify spending $200 USD ($300 NZD).
I also justified the 512gb card because switch 2 already has the 256GB internal storage. So, the 512+256=768GB seemed like it should be ok for now. Although, I guess if you can swallow the price for the 1TB card, that price is probably still cheaper in the long run than buying a 512gb express card now, and getting a 1tb on sale later.
I’ve got two 512gb full now, and the switch full.
I’ve gotten over the keycard / digital issue now and would gladly go fully digital however the main benefit is having everything available for me, I’d love a full library available but the switch 2 console storage is criminally low, and the high cost/ poor availability of the express cards is awful.
Hoping in a year or two can pick up at least a couple of 1tb’s and rotate.

@JamesS2612 Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but with the switch gen, it seemed the sd card readers were not spec'd for durability for regularly swapping out sd cards, and that type of use is probably likely to make that sd card reader wear out & fail and need to be replaced. For switch 2, I'm not sure the sd card reader durability is going to be any better, unfortunately. Granted, its a bit early in switch 2 gen to know.
@WoomyNNYes oh that’s interesting thank you, I didn’t have a switch so wasn’t aware. I’ll bear that in mind.
You’d think one card and internal storage would be enough but it really doesn’t go far, sure the games I’m actively playing would fit but for me the whole point and advantage of digital is to have your whole library available
