Hi guys. I have enough money to purchase Kirby AR, but am wondering how it is compared to other Racers. Is the game worth getting? I mainly play games solo, not much into multiplayer stuff. Does the game have lots of single player/solo content? Thoughts and help appreciated

@OmegaX83
It didn’t hook me.

I played it at launch for a few hours… just the single-player stuff, mind you (and there is a lot of it), but… it’s not Mario Kart or even Sonic Racing.

Very, very different.

It’s super chaotic, even for a kart racer, and the simplified button mapping seems nice at first, but I found some annoying overlaps like quickly moving the control stick back and forth to position for a turn, but then accidentally transforming the one machine.

Gonna give it more time soon, but my initial impression was not in the same ballpark as Mario Kart.

@OmegaX83 Kirby Air Riders is great, but it is not a traditional racing game like Mario Kart or Sonic Racing. While there is more single-player content in Air Riders than MKW and SRCW between the Road Trip mode and the various checklists, there still isn't very much, and the single-player content is, at its core, complementary to the multiplayer experience rather than a deep experience in its own right. If you're not planning to play much multiplayer, I wouldn't recommend purchasing Kirby Air Riders for full price.

"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"

For the type of game it is, the single player offering is pretty substantial between Road Trip, the checklist and all the settings you can change if you're just playing offline against CPUs.

It's definitely still a multiplayer game at its core though so I'm not sure how much I'd recommend it as a pure single player game. I have 135+ hours in the game but a large majority of that is grinding the online ranked modes.

In terms of gameplay it feels a million times better than Mario Kart World for me. Both in variety but also just how satisfying the movement is after getting the hang of it. I go back to Mario Kart from time to time for team stuff but it feels so slow and clunky after putting a lot of time into this game.

I main the Transform Star in Air Ride mode and have very good control over when I do and don't transform. It's a bit of an acquired skill but it works perfectly well.

Yea, I’m sure I will get much better with practice. I need to finish up Zelda first and then I’ll be back to Kirby to really sink into it.

I'm really enjoying it but dear God in Heaven am I bad at it. I am steadily getting better but I'm still struggling not to crash into walls. I love yellow Kirby's (or Keeby) special the way he launches himself and creates a massive explosion.

I'm loving it, but I had played the original and didn't expect a Mario Kart clone.

Mechanically very different, while Sonic felt pretty similar to MK from the demo I tried.
