Straight to the point - could the Switch 2 user base petition for a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe remaster? The primary focus would be increased resolution and 60 frames-per-second on four player split screen mode.
My family and I purchased Mario Kart World but found it not enjoyable. We quickly reverted back to playing MK8D.
Surely the Switch 2 is powerful enough to implement the noted items above.
@ICBM1982 I sincerely doubt we'll see a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Deluxe on Switch 2, or even a Switch 2 Edition. Nintendo will want people to purchase their shiny new Mario Kart game that's already out, not a Wii U Mario Kart. Besides, Mario Kart World continues to sell well, so I don't see Nintendo remastering 8 Deluxe just to appease a vocal minority of the fan base.
If I may ask, what was it about Mario Kart World you and your family found unappealing.
"well it appears I am upside down. what ever will I do?"
Currently Playing: Hades II, Pokémon Scarlet, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Super Mario Galaxy
I don’t think you could sell all that many people on a Switch 2 version of one of the most complete-feeling games of all time, especially if the only things they’re adding is improved performance in a game that famously looks excellent for Nintendo consoles. I could potentially see a free update, but I feel like they would have done it at launch if they were going to do it.

We just found that the open world tracks/courses really took away the sense of speed and excitement. The graphics are great, but the gameplay seemed like a downgrade.
@ICBM1982 Upgrading MK8 would potentially eat into competing with MKW, and Nintendo won't do that - they are focused on MKW now, and don't want to potentially dilute MKW's online player base.
But I agree, MKW kinda sucks. MKW races punish you for maximize drift boosting. I haven't touched MKW after 35 hours. I would still rather race MK8 or Crash Team Racing. I think we have to hope Nintendo will bring features to MKW to give it more legs (like how they brought 200cc MK8 a year or two after MK8 launched) or fix things somehow. Bagging strategy just isn't interesting. Intermission tracks just aren't interesting.
I think you're all drama queens. Mario Kart World is fine and the only valid criticism I feel is that there isn't a way to do only the traditional three lap tracks online. Even as an additional mode or something. But even there that criticism doesn't really apply to local multiplayer
In terms of Switch 2 editions and free upgrades? Sure. I want to see as many games as possible get that treatment. Especially the first party titles given they're not available elsewhere. But in that list I would put Mario Kart 8 as a pretty low priority. Because World does exist and does already scratch the "higher fidelity Mario Kart" itch
They're obviously not the same games, there are things one does better than the other and people will have their preferences and opinions. But in the huge list of games I want to see? Surely we want like.... Pikmin, Smash Bros, Metroid etc, etc before Mario Kart 8
Mario Kart World is full of design decisions that are not fun to a lot of us. The increase in quantity of racers has widened tracks making them less interesting to race on once you hit a certain skill level. It also makes the item game even more chaotic than in the past. The wider tracks try to compensate for more empty road space with more gimmicks, which falls flat on its face.
As a party game in brief bursts it's OK, but it's just not very fun to play. A Mario Kart game that is only OK might be a great game compared to the rest of the industry, but it is still a disappointing entry in the series.
Here's an idea, all of my completey stable friends who aren't just repeating internet garbagio: Take your Mario Kart 8 Deluxe cartridge. Put it in your Switch 2. Play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
@rallydefault Drama? Maybe creating something out of nothing just makes people feel like a wizard. Who wants simplicity when they can live in this everyday magic?
Oh no some people have different opinions than you, better make up fantastic stories to undermine them so that you don't have to deal with reality.
If anyone's creating something out of nothing, it's certainly not the people who played the game and gave it a fair shot but ended up disappointed. If the topic is too uncomfortable for you, maybe just post in any of the dozens of other active ones that align with your opinions?
