Has anyone else ordered a GameCube controller and not received it? I ordered one with my Switch 2 from the official Nintendo store back in April. When I opened the box about a week and a half ago, it wasn't there, and the order status just lists it as a pre-order. I didn't see any communication from Nintendo regarding this, until I emailed them and got the following message. (Redactions are mine)

Hello -NAME-,
Thank you for contacting My Nintendo Store.

Regarding your order -ORDER NUMBER-, we can confirm that the Nintendo GameCube (GCN) Controller – Nintendo Classics is currently awaiting for replenishment. This is why it is still listed as a pre-order on your order status page.

We apologise for the lack of communication on this matter and appreciate your patience. As soon as the item is back in stock, it will be shipped to you automatically, and you will receive a shipping confirmation email.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,
My Nintendo Store Team

Has this happened to anyone else?

Same for me and my friend.

I ordered one pretty much as soon as they were available (via an access code) but still haven't got mine. (My friend ordered one soon after.) I contacted Nintendo about it a few days after the Switch 2 launch as I hadn't heard anything and they said the same about it being on back-order.

I'm happy to wait (honest)... but what gets me is, like you, they didn't communicate this at any point and I only knew about it after I contacted them. Plus, when I last checked they are still available to order, yet there's no mention on the product page about there being a delay.

How strange. I ordered mine quite a while after they became available and received it on launch day.

Yeah, same here. I find it odd that they don't have them yet are just selling them online as if they are in stock and will arrive tomorrow.

If they don't have the stock I would expect them to be marked as pre order or similar, or not in stock at all as the SNES controller often is.

It's a poor show. I responded to my email asking about the order and when they would get stock - they can't tell me.

My order is still in as, lets face it, you can't buy it anywhere else.

Yup same happened to me, I have no issue waiting but what I do have an issue with is as you’ve all said just poor communication. At no point does it say it’s on back order, only after 10 days of no movement did I email to be told it’s on back order despite order status saying delivery within 2-4 days.

Even now you can log on the website and it says will be dispatched within 24 hours?!

Yeah, that they are still selling it is what is really annoying me >,,>

I emailed them, asking about the status and why they are still selling them and got this reply (Again, I've removed my name and order number)

Hello -NAME-,

Thank you for contacting My Nintendo store.

In relation to your order -NUMBER-, unfortunately, we would like to inform you that your order is still on back-order.

We appreciate the patience given so far and any further updates will be sent via email.

Kind regards,

My Nintendo Store Team

Same for me but I ordered mine later so I was expecting a delay, annoying considering their site listed it as in stock.

huh, this must really be just a UK thing because I ordered my Gamecube controller on June 15th and it arrived on June 20th.

@StarLord87 Sorry, to confirm, you are in the UK, you ordered a GameCube controller from the Nintendo Store AFTER the Switch 2 launch, and it has been placed on back-order?

Yes UK based and I ordered the controller just under 2 weeks ago then I got a message from Nintendo stating it has been placed on back order.

Since I ordered 10th June, this transaction was marks as pending on my bank account until today, but it seems it's now been cancelled. I've emailed them agin to ask what the score is!

So Nintendo UK did reply quickly this time and it seems the response is positive! So hoping to get one soon, their response in full was :

Regarding your recent communication, please be informed that your order had been acting as a back order. The back order has been recently replenished and is now processing. Once dispatched, you would receive an email with tracking information.

We apologise for any inconveniences and appreciate your patience.

Many thanks in advance.

Even better news, mine has finally shipped!! Yet, relating to my first post of today, there is no sign of a transaction on my bank anymore. This is very unusual as my Nintendo UK transactions are usually instantly visible there. So I'm hoping it's free

That is good news! Hopefully mine and others get shipped soon too.

Just checked. The status of the GCN controller is now marked as 'completed', but I don't see any tracking info for this part of it, nor do I see any communication in my emails....

Correction: I see an email from PayPal saying Nintendo have taken funds from me, but nothing directly from them
