I got the switch 2 a few weeks ago, and have been using ethernet because the wifi chip is not very good, especially for Nintendo games such as Splatoon. I brought my switch 2, everything that came in the box, and ethernet cable. I left my ethernet cable at their house, and went to camp for a 1 1/2 weeks, in which they just returned the cable today. Now the ethernet port on the dock is not working. I tried using a different cable and it didn’t work. Then I connected the ethernet cable to the tv, and that did work. Does anyone know what’s wrong with my dock? And is there anyway to fix it myself, or will I have to send it in to Nintendo?

Well since your Switch is likely still under warranty I would contact Nintendo and set up a repair. Doing a repair yourself will void the warranty.

@Tasuki Alright, thanks. I normally play handheld (now tabletop because it’s usable now compared to og switch 1), so I’ll see if I can send only the dock itself.

Ok, this thread doesn't compute on what happened. What did you do with the Dock?

@sethfranum Nothing. I left it alone for a week and a half, and when I came back, the ethernet port wasn’t working. The ethernet cable wasn’t plugged in either, so I have absolutely no idea what happened.

@pikachupikachup Try rebooting the console while it's docked and ethernet cable is plugged in. Or look up how to set up internet for switch 2 on nintendo Support's website (for the sake of going by-the-book and ruling out an easy fix).

@WoomyNNYes I already restarted it once with that idea, maybe rebooting it in safe mode might work though. I’ll look at Nintendo’s support website for internet setup to see if it works.

This is a known issue in some early units. Apparently some people are having luck shutting it down entirely (not just sleep) and starting it again. Probably best to just contact Nintendo support, they'll have a better idea of the issue than anyone here

@skywake Did both, even rebooted it in safe mode before restarting it (because I’ve heard that helps for the battery indicator, so thought it might work), but nothing worked. Contacting support was useless, because they told me to change settings on my router, but I know the only problem in the chain is the switch 2, as using all the same materials but connecting the ethernet port to the tv worked.

OK, I put this on both threads.

I will report this back to them or the Switch 2 is having Dock issue to DBrand which the outcome as I test on Second Dock and ethernet works just fine.

Nintendo help wants to send in Switch 2 but I don't believe it's the issue here and I will check with the store for Warranty replacement as well. Error code 2100-1100 I this is Dock issue with ethernet but they keep claiming it's Switch 2. I already have two Switch 2 and swapping back and fort indicates Dock 1 is the issue here not Dock 2. But they don't want to send out New Dock to replace it.

I can now confirm changing my setup with both Switch 2 and Docks that seems Dock1 from 1Switch2 can't connect to 1Switch2 but 2Switch2 will connect to ethernet. And same setup on Dock2 both work for ethernet so this can't be a Switch2 issue but Dock1 communication issue with 1Switch2 to connect ethernet. So I am going to request Nintendo support send a replacement Dock for 1Switch2 and see what happens.

@sethfranum I also think its the dock, as the system itself used to support ethernet, but after leaving it alone for a week, it stopped working. Maybe dust or something got into the port?

@pikachupikachup Yeah going to just swap with another Switch 2 system as I have warranty don't want to send it in to only have the same issue. But it's odd 1Switch2 work in Dock2 for 2Switch2 and 2Switch2 works in the Dock1 for 1Switch2 so totally confused here as 1Switch2 works on Dock2. But they don't seem to want to replace but fix the Dock1 as told by the Nintendo support so I said I rather insure both Dock and Switch2 are operation and not find out Dock1 replacement is "Factory Certified" I don't like that at all. I told them to replace with new Dock. They didn't want to even say that. They wanted with shipping and all 80$ as balance if the Dock isn't the issue but I know it is. Maybe like the other poster like me got lemons that only shows up later. But my other Dock works find right now. Both of the Docks are sitting on the same table as my Gaming Desktop so there's now way they been moved or had any liquid spilled on them I think something in the chipset has gone haywire when it connects to the 1Switch2 but not 2Switch2. But I am not taking that risk as I want to play CyberPunk2077 with mouse and keyboard option so that's why I need the dock.

@sethfranum You can use tabletop mode to play with mouse mode. That’s what I do since my brother plays on the PS5 a lot, so I can’t use the tv. Of course if you have a very good monitor that’s another story.

@pikachupikachup I got a decent 2k monitor and it looks good the test will be Cyberpunk2077 with mouse and Switch2 Docked. I will see if that setups sees the keyboard/mouse if so then Fortnite here I come to get it a try again.

Ok, swapped the Switch2 and reset all my stuff and moved the save data back to Switch2 replacement. I can now see the ethernet and pro controller connects after going through the setup. Since it was past 30 days and no warranty since before I never had to. I had to pay used game frees to get a new Bundle version. I hope this time it's working without issue.

Did you replace the dock too, or was the problem really the switch 2?

I replaced both don't want one working and then fail later. I think the problem was the Dock. I bought two Switch2 units. If I talk about them Dock1/1Switch2 is the first unit and Dock2/2Switch2 is the second unit. So docking 1Switch2 in 2Switch2 Dock2 ethernet works fine for both but reverse 2Switch2 in Dock1 either work but 1Switch2 in Dock1 doesn't work. I did the unplug Dock1 and leave 30 to hour and it did work after connect to ethernet but take 1Switch2 out and go portable DKB for few hours dock back into Dock1 and no ethernet done this many times driving me crazy. So end results I took 1Switch2 and all it's stuff back and paid 150$ to exchange since it's past 30days a "New" Switch2 and then restored my data from 2Switch2 that I sent the save files to and then docked New Switch2 and ethernet work. I will keep test back and forth on both to see what happens. The pain was hooking the HDMI on my monitor what a pain not much space to get to on my gaming Desktop rig where it sits next to my computer. But will keep testing to insure New Dock works with ethernet but so far it not dropping the connection when docked to use ethernet connection. The cost I paid for the swap was almost close to the sending in to Nintendo to fix or replace. 148$ complete or 80$ send in for repair assuming they just swap board and claim fix. I choose to spend more and get complete "New" console instead. For those with just one this is a pain...unless you still have Switch1 unless you sold it.
