There's one gym around here that's super competitive. Have claimed it twice only to lose it again within a few minutes. Even crazier I beat it and someone from another team submitted their Pokemon before I had a chance. I think I might go out to the bush at some point, claim something a bit more out of the way. At least then I might hold it for a while.

Well, I managed to take the game out for a test run finally yesterday. Caught some Pokemon (also, an Exeggcute in my own house before I even left, lol). Though there were no Poke Stops or Gyms, which sucked. Only Stop I had on screen was out of the neighborhood, and it was too late to walk that far. That was pretty much it, it wouldn't let me power up/evolve Pokemon...kept getting an error.
Anyways going into town today, maybe even a movie (depending on how Sanya behaves in my room while I'm gone...), so...maybe it'll work better. Maybe I'll finally be able to try out the stops and find a gym.

The game is more or less what i have expected it to be, thankfully the future updates hinted like trading and gym management seems very promising.
Biggest downfall is on my side. I use a rooted $50 Kindle Fire because I'm cheap. It can only use Wi-Fi. I guess this is somewhat fixed when I'm connected to Xfinity, which gives me decent coverage around town, but I still get some connectivity issues.
I wasn't hyping this up, but I'm enjoying it. It's making me get out of the house more.
Yeah, less errors, was able to power up some Pokemon today....also one of the places we had to stop for Sanya was a Poke Stop or whatever it's called. So...I got me an egg. lol

Just spent five hours hanging out in two different locations with dozens of people just chatting it up and catching Pokes as they popped up at a trio of Pokestops that were constantly being refreshed with lures. It's kinda awesome how much Go is bringing people together. Lots of cars cruising at 10mph is kinda no bueno but it is what it is. Even noticed an ambulance driver cruising around with the app open.
Also walked over five miles for hatching eggs and hitting more stops. Guess we're gonna do it more tomorrow, probably for longer.

@Webby-sama Yeah I had a similar experience. I was walking down the street around the corner from where I live cause there is literally a Pokestop around the corner, when all of a sudden a car pulls up along side me. At first I thought there were going to ask for directions instead they asked me if I was playing Pokemon and if I am there is a Pokestop up ahead. I got a chuckle out of that.

I had a look at google trends to see how big this is compared to other big gaming hits. In terms of search volume at least it's about as big as Minecraft was at its peak and it's way bigger than Angry Birds. This is specifically Pokemon Go not Pokemon in general. If this is just a fad then it's the biggest gaming related fad in the past decade. If it's not a fad then it'll be as important a release as Minecraft.

...There's like, no way to contact the devs is there? I mean, I see the "submit a request" option...But, I was hoping there would be a way to request a new Stop/Gym...since my area is nearly empty. (only one Stop in view, and I'd have to leave my neighborhood and cross a very busy road just to get to it...)

I'm going to wait for the official release here (so the servers will be a bit more stable at least), but there have already been funny news regarding the use of the app - Some cops pulled over a group of adults (19, 20 years old) a couple nights ago, due to the "strange behaviour". When the cop asked them what they where doing... They showed their phones, with Pokemon Go open. The cop let them go, but still... I look forward to all crazy stories that will appear.
So far I'm really enjoying the game now that I have actually figured out how to do everything (I think). By far the biggest downfall of the game (aside from the servers) is the lack of any actual tutorial system.
I can see gym turf battles becoming a legit thing, and it's really cool how balanced the system appears to be at this point. If anything it might be too difficult to hold a gym down, but I guess creating that kind of chaos keeps people involved.
Egg hatching is the only thing I don't like. 5km is a long ways to walk/run with this app open, power save mode or no. I don't mind the distance, but there should be a way for the game to track you without being open. My galaxy S5 tracks my steps and distance walked (albeit inaccurately) without anything explicitly running. Use that data?

I only chose it because all my friends jumped on it, but I've discovered it's really Team Underdog. There's hardly a strong support of it in San Diego =.=
