OMG Phantom Hourglass, that's almost as funny as Metroid 2 as a choice.

How much of the game is dominated by the most lacking Zelda music in series history (despite having good songs in it that are sometimes rarely used) is an all time bewildering decision for Nintendo. Like whatever issues I have with the music in Metroid Dread or Pikmin 4 is this X100.

I've heard that a lot more of the main Zelda team was involved with Spirits Tracks then Phantom Hourglass. And to me the biggest sign of that is the quality control for the music. (along with a preview of the whip and Beadle airship that is more known in Skyward Sword)

Glad I'm amongst people who agree this game's soundtrack was really under par. I remember liking Linebeck's theme, the music in the temple you need the hourglass for and it actually expanded the fairy fountain theme in a way I liked (it's called something like Celia's parting words in my guitar book).
Otherwise the soundtrack just added to the feeling this was an expanded tech demo.
Spirit Tracks was a big improvement on most levels!

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD getting a big, sudden update makes me think it's coming to Nintendo Music all the more. I can't believe it hasn't already!

since i basically live in this thread, i've been playing hytale and having lots of fun. see you in five years when they port it to consoles.

noisycroak just does music mastering, soundtrack selection would be up to Nintendo (and other rights owners if involved). Even if Phantom Hourglass isn't setting up for Nintendo DS Classics, it does seem somewhat typical for the occasional game that isn't on Switch, especially lately when they seem to be more intent on rounding out the less-represented systems (we did similarly get New Super Mario Bros. not too long ago).

In light of the recent update I am guessing Donkey Kong Country Returns, Pikmin 3 and Pokemon X & Y (one day, surely?).

I'm going to break away from the pack on this one and go with Donkey Kong Bananza instead of DKCRHD (because I'm special that way lol), and then the Zelda Oracle games as a backup. Goofy guess this week is.... Nintendo Switch Sports!

Donkey Kong Country Returns HD (because of the recent update, and it's been a good while since the last Donkey Kong addition)
Donkey Kong Bananza (because I really am choosing two different Donkey Kong soundtracks)
Xenoblade Chronicles (the first one, both original and Definitive Edition)

I'll go for Donkey Kong Country Returns, Super Mario 3D World, or the rest of Splatoon 3. 3D World's soundtrack would be a great belated birthday present for me!

first day of classes at college for this semester was cancelled thanks to a snow storm. hopefully the next music drop will help me relax...

praying for kirby super star or mario 3d world, but the dkc returns update does give me slightly renewed hope for tropical freeze. definitely another favorite that needs to be on there!

I’ll guess Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country Returns, or NES Punch Out for this week.

My guess is Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, it's been a while since we got a GBA soundtrack

My guesses this week are DKC Returns, Super Metroid and Miitopia cause why not

Donkey Kong Country Returns, an SNES game, or anything Animal Crossing.

As stated earlier, gonna go with DKC Returns as my main guess - although, basically all of us are guessing it, which basically guarantees it won't happen! 😆

And for backups, I'll go with Super Metroid, or... hmm... Mario Kart Wii.

It's been awhile since Switch 1 base NSO players have gotten something (last time was November with the NES + GB wave) so 2 of my predictions are going to be alongside NSO shadow drops.

• DKC Returns - To tie-in with recent DKC Returns HD update
• Yoshi's Safari - To tie-in with the Galaxy movie Direct, game gets shadow dropped on SNES NSO
• Wario Land - The game originally released on January 21st 1994 in Japan, game gets shadow dropped on GB NSO

Nintendo managed to release Mario Paint and Virtual Boy games on NSO, I have confidence that someday Nintendo will be able to release NES light gun and SNES super scope games on NSO somehow.
