First prediction of the year let's goooooo

I think it'll be something small this week, but that doesn't mean it can't be impactful! Super Metroid or Kirby's Adventure fit that bill. I think we could alternatively see a special release of Mario Kart World this week, although I think that they might want to do a full release after not giving us anything last week.

I'm predicting DKC Returns, there hasn't been any DK additions since the Bananza special release in September and the Switch port of Returns is approaching 1 year old but I think the week it does turn 1 year old would be Switch 2 related instead considering the console reveal happened on the same day.

@squiddu-real Oh ok, I was confused as to why you just wrote Majora’s Mask on its own with no explanation. As for my guesses, I’ll guess Link’s awakening (gameboy or switch) or Majora’s mask

I'm going all-in on the rest of Splatoon 3. I won't even guess any other games. Now is the perfect time to start 2026 with an ink-filled bang with Frosty Fest going on this week. I haven't been this confident since I correctly predicted Donkey Kong Country 3 at the start of last year!

Mario Kart World — what better way to start the year?
Donkey Kong Bananza — almost as good, and having the first 2026 album be a Switch 2 game would be great
Link's Crossbow Training — if we can't have the Switch 2 properly represented, then I want this game instead, darn it

Happy New Year everyone.
My first predictions of the year are Link's Awakening, Mario Tennis or that Mario Vs DK remake.

On the subject of predictions, do people want me to keep the existing score board rolling (seeing as we ended 2025 with a 7 way tie) or reset? It's also the best time to mix up the rules if we are going to.

The first addition of the year...I'm not too sure to be honest so I'm gonna go with either Super Metroid or Majora's Mask. Though if I were to have a new year's resolution for this game, it would be to go with some more 'out-there' predictions.

But, like most resolutions: "Meh, I'll start next week"

@AJWolfTill I think a 7-way tie does call for the current leaderboard to stay as-is for now lol! I think the rules are generally fine, we're crossing off more and more games every week so in theory we should see more correct predictions this year. With that in mind, I think keeping the maximum guess count the same should be fine? We'll see how we go.

You can probably just leave it, it seems fairly arbitrary to reset it.

@AJWolfTill, I suggest keeping the current scoreboard, and since you're probably going to run out of space soon in your signature, may I make a suggestion? I had this idea a while back. As long as the mods are okay with it, I suggest making another seperate thread where the scores are kept. One post in that thread for the scores at the end of every year, to see how they get bigger as the years progress and they can be accessed pretty easily (2024 and 2025 can be combined into one though). That way you won't run out of space, unless forum threads have a limit on posts. And I think considering the massive amount of games that don't have sountracks still, three guesses is perfectly fine. Maybe lower it to two guesses sometime in 2027?

@AJWolfTill Given the current 7-way tie, I vote we keep out current leaderboard! Three guesses is also fine still (though perhaps in the future we may need to lower it).

My guess is it will be a Switch game... so either 3D World or Echoes of Wisdom would be my guess.
