I have a theory. My theory is that Mario Kart Tour is being discontinued this fall after the sixth anniversary tour that ends in early October 2025, when the current tour loop (which is now on its third loop around) wraps up. They've already announced that the new Mario Kart World event drivers and karts will be the last new ones (when they already said there would be no more after October 2023, but that's beside the point). What I think is going to happen is that they'll make it an offline game like Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete (Mario Kart Tour Complete?) and make it cost $10 temporarily before it becomes $20. No more microtransactions, and they might discontinue rubies like they discontinued leaf tickets in Pocket Camp Complete. The only online capability would be connecting a Nintendo Account for save data transfer and Miis. They might add a wireless play mode so that people who have the game can play with nearby players. What they might do is make it so the game no longer has a tour loop and instead has hundreds of cups so all variants of all courses can be played (they would have to massively change the course selection menu to account for this), or they could have a new tour loop that repeats the same content yearly and makes sure that every course and course variant is available for two weeks at least once a year. They might go for one more fourth loop that ends in October 2026, but it does feel like support for this game is slowly dwindling. If they did a Mario Kart Tour Complete, I would definitely be willing to pay for it if it costs as much as Pocket Camp Complete. Again, this is just a theory and I could be wrong. Any thoughts?
