Topic: NSO Voucher gone after cancelling a pre-order

Hi,

So, I bought an NSO game voucher earlier this year, with which I pre-ordered Mario Strikers: Battle League Football and Fire Emblem Warriors Three Hopes. Later on I found a good deal for the limited edition of Fire Emblem Three Hopes so I cancelled the pre-order of that. I'm now surprised to find out on the eShop that I don't have any vouchers, when I should have the one back from Three Hopes.

Has this ever occurred to anyone? I'm trying to find the best way to contact Nintendo's customer support about this, but the options on the website don't seem to correctly align with my issue. If anyone has any tips, please share.

Perhaps I should cancel Mario Strikers too so they can refund the entire voucher? I don't want to incur the risk of potentially losing even more money, however.

Thank you!

Are you able to call Nintendo’s tech support? That may work better than an email.

@FreasurePlanten I thought Nintendo Switch Online cards were for NSO subscriptions, not buying games. If you plugged a Nintendo Switch Online subscription redeem code into eshop, then it should have purchased an NSO subscrption, and the subscription would have started the day you entered the redeem code. (forgive me if I've misunderstood anything)

But like Ryu_Niiyama mentioned above, you may need Nintendo Support's help.

**Side note, last I knew, Nintendo Support UK phone number could only be found at the bottom of Nintendo support UK's email form. It was a sneaky way of hiding the phone number, but they may still be doing that.

@FreasurePlanten Have you bought any already released game voucher eligible titles since buying the vouchers? In general payment for preorders isn't taken until a week before launch (i.e. June 3rd for Mario Strikers, June 17th for Three Hopes) so it may be that you accidentally used your vouchers on other games.

The situation is very odd. Mario Strikers still definitely showed up as being pre-ordered and that I was using a voucher for it. However, neither in my eShop transaction history nor on my PayPal (the only way I use to add funds to eShop) did it show up that I had purchased the vouchers (which I did, that's how I pre-ordered both games ). So I would probably have gotten an error anyway when they tried to process the payment I'm assuming since I had a "ghost" voucher?

Decided to cancel Mario Strikers' pre-order as well and buy vouchers for the intended games. Now the transaction shows up as expected on PayPal.

@Grumblevolcano I'm aware that payment is only processed 7 days before launch. I cancelled the pre-order and ordered the limited edition on the 21st of May. Since then the only game I bought on eShop was Dragon's Dogma - not eligible. But even if it was, they give you the option to use the voucher or to add funds to the account, and I would have opted for the latter if buying games covered by the voucher on sales, say.

@WoomyNNYes the vouchers are for games.

@WoomyNNYes In the UK we still have the NSO Game Vouchers - you buy in pairs and can redeem them for eligible digital games. Works out about 15%ish off, so only really worth if your buying 1st party stuff that rarely gets discounted or BOTW which seems to be more expensive at MSRP than almost every other game.
