Topic: My Nintendo Switch won't work on the TV

Last month I had purchased a new Nintendo Switch and it works fine on handheld however, whenever i plug my Switch into the TV it does one of two things. My switch either freezes up or says that an error has occurred and that I should turn my Switch off and on again. My main theory is that my TV is fairly old and cannot handle the switch, but it feels like its more of a problem with the Switch itself rather then anything else. Any help or tips would be appreciated! Thanks

Set TV mode on Switch to 720 or Your dock/hdmi cable is faulty.

So it must be dock - unless try another HDMI cable.

@Erens I would suggest you test on another TV to determine if the problem is the Switch or the dock or the TV. Also, find another HDMI device and test the HDMI port on the TV too. Finally try another HDMI cable too. If possible, try another Switch and dock. If the TV supports 720p or 1080p then it can handle the Switch if it is functioning properly. There is nothing special about the audio and video coming from the Switch as opposed to a DVD player or something. All the processing and graphical work is done by the Switch and then simply sent to the TV as a signal.

If you do all of that, and still can't identify the problem, you might just be out of luck.

@Heavyarms55 Thank you very much for the help! I have tried a different TV, but i'll try to use a new HDMI cable though

@Erens Just to add my experience; last weekend I finally replaced my flat HDMI cable with the shorter Nintendo-supplied cable from the console packaging. I was having signal dropouts more frequently with the flat cord. If I went and bender it around some, it would act fine until it needed to be done every session. So it very well could be something as simple as a cable.

@Erens How did it go with the different TV? I am curious.

@Heavyarms55 It didn't work any better then it had done with the other TV unfortunately!

@Erens then most likely the problem is the cable, the dock or the Switch.
