I just put Geometry Wars: Galaxies (DS) in last night to finally get the gold medals on the last 2 or 3 levels and 100% the game when I got this message. Was wondering how many other people on NL have had this sad occurance happen to them, on any game or system.

I think it's happened to me once before as well, but I can't for the life of me remember the circumstances. It is a real slap in the face to boot a game up to see that though.

One of my Gamecube memory cards had that happen. I had to get another one with half as much memory, but I managed to copy the files that can be copied and fit all the memory and it had no problems loading from that memory card.
Playstation 2 Card had that happen when my step dad tried to play Madden 08 2 weeks ago. But its all fixed up now. Hope everything is Okay with it now.

An odd thing to happen on a DS game. I experienced that with a PS1 memory card, my FF7 file got corrupted D:... can say more... it's so painful to remember.

I'd say take it back to the store and get another copy. It'll probably work.
I've had this game a while. Also, it's a matter of me not wanting to do 15 hours or so of gameplay over. I'll probably sell it. It's sad but it's not worth the effort to get there again.

Same here, my first save lost was about 30 hrs into FF7 and then just gone. Horrible feeling and ever since Ive learned to back up EVERYTHING that I can. I have lost saves on Gamecube many times as well as on DS, but never really major stuff with exception to my Jump Super Stars after I put a ton of time in and was about to have most everything open and then just gone, still havent started that one back up yet.

Actually, I've never had any problems with memory on a CD-based system. I've only ever had memory based problems on the NES, SNES, and N64 (all of which are cartridge based systems). Usually, particularly with Super Nintendo games, every once in a while the memory of the games just seems to completely erase all saves. Of course, these are older systems which probably contribute greatly to the problem, but still, I've only had problems with memory on Cartridge based systems. Actually, on the DS in particular, sometimes I'll stick in Wario Ware Touched, and it will say I have no memory for that game whatsoever. But then I turn it off and stick it back in, and it shows that I have everything unlocked completely (which I do). So, I find that you will most likely experience more memory based problems on cartridge based games, even on the newer systems.

Anyone play that GC game, Eternal Darkness. You have an insanity meter and crazy stuff happens when you go insane. If you have played this game, you know what I'm talking about. It was damn scary!

There's something completely screwed-up with my copy of Metroid: Zero Mission. The save data is in there (somewhere), but it takes countless times of taking it out, putting it back in, and firing it up before the damn thing can read it or whatever. The weird thing is, if you save it and then go back to the title screen, the data disappears then too. Not cool, especially since I like Metroid so much and like to replay them often...

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
It happened to me with both Paper Mario and Mario Party 3 on the 64. I was able to reset Mario Party 3 whule that message was on screen and thankfully it didn't come back and my data was still there. For Paper Mario, however, well....
